Javon Baker Is Going To Be A Dawg For Fantasy

The New England Patriots drafted Javon Baker with the 110th overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Jay-Von (proper pronunciation): Baker has a swagger that you love to see from a young wide receiver. He was a big play machine in college, catching 117 passes for 2051 yards (17.5 yards per reception) and 13 touchdowns. Baker is one of the better-contested catch receivers in this draft.

He has clamps for hands and exceptional high-pointing ability. He also has a large catch radius, which helps him snatch these passes out of the air. He lands on an offense with Alex Van Pelt, Jacoby Brissett, and Drake Maye. It’s not the best, but it shouldn’t be viewed as the worst.

This fast-paced offense that AVP is bringing over is throwing more than people think (it averaged 63 plays a game over the last three years with over 50% passing). With Kendrick Bourne still rehabbing, this WR group looks to be highlighted by Demario Douglas, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Javon Baker. Anyone of them could turn out to be the top dog, role player, or bust, but they are worth the risk when you can draft them late in startups and rookie drafts alike.

Our consensus projections for Baker in the 2024 season would be 43 receptions, 647 yards, and 4 touchdowns.
