Jerome Ford Is A Sneaky Consistent Fantasy Asset
Jerome Ford emerged as a key contributor for the Cleveland Browns in 2023. He played a significant role, rushing for 813 yards and 4 touchdowns on 204 carries. He also displayed receiving ability, catching 44 passes for 319 yards. Ford's breakout season solidified his position as a reliable backup to Nick Chubb.
Ford played in every game in 2023. After Chubb got injured, Ford only had four weeks where he finished outside the top 24 running backs, which speaks to his floor. He also had a decent ceiling, finishing in the top 10 four times (RB6, RB7, RB10, and RB5). His snap share, even after Chubb went down, hovered between 50 and 70, which is the max, so he doesn't need a large workload to be successful.
With Chubb entering the final year of his contract, Ford could see an even more significant role in the Browns' offense in 2024. If Chubb is re-signed or healthy, Ford will remain a valuable change-of-pace back and receiving threat.
However, if Chubb departs or suffers an injury, Ford is primed to take on a starting role yet again. During the off-season, the Browns added to their backfield by signing D'Onta Foreman, who is capable of culturing some RedZone usage and will lead to more competition for Ford in 2024.
