Jerry Jones Ridiculous Statement On Sun Issue At AT&T Stadium
This season for the Dallas Cowboys has been an absolute disaster. Not only did the Cowboys get dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles 34-6, but with a 3-6 record, the playoffs are looking unlikely. A big concern in Dallas games, has been the sun getting into the eyes of wide receivers in the red zone. With AT&T Stadium being a dome, it's a massive problem for them.
CeeDee Lamb was the most recent example of sunlight issues. He dropped a key pass that could have gotten a touchdown in the 2nd quarter. Re-watching the play, it's obvious that Lamb couldn't see, thanks to the sunlight. He even admitted it in an interview after the game, saying the following.
“I couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball, at all. The sun,”
It's been a tremendous problem for years, and it gets worse when the daylight savings change occurs. When Lamb was asked if curtains should be put over those windows, he believes the organization should do it. Well, Jerry Jones, the owner of the team, doesn't agree with that. In an interview after the game, he was quoted saying the following.
“By the way, we know where the sun is going to be when we flip the coin, so we do know where the damn sun is going to be in our own stadium,.. Let’s just tear the damn stadium down and build another one. Are you kidding me?”
This guy has a multi-billion dollar stadium built, and a multi-billion dollar valued franchise. Yet, he won't even swing for some curtains. You're kidding me, right? The worst part, is that the stadium does have curtains, and uses them in concerts, and non-Dallas Cowboys games. So they have the solution to close the curtains, but Jerry Jones refuses to use them for some reason.
Here is the worst part that nobody is talking about. Jerry Jones kept going, and took a shot at Mike McCarthy.
“Everybody’s got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues. They know where the sun is going to be. Every team has the same thing... I’m not saying [it’s on McCarthy]. I’m saying the world knows where the sun is. We get to know that almost a year in advance. So someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon? We’re fine. But everybody plays in the sun out here.”
The ego that this man has is so big that Michael Jordan is jealous. That statement with Mike McCarthy is pretty telling, that he's not coming back at the end of the season. He should have been fired last year, but this is the same man who kept Jason Garrett to coach for 9 seasons. With McCarthy's contract expiring at the end of the season, don't be shocked if it's not renewed when NFL Black Monday hits.
This fiasco just proves that the Cowboys are desperate, and the problem is the owner can't control his ego. Jerry's ego had him going "All in" this season, and that's hilarious, because all he did was bring in a declining Ezekiel Elliott, and overpay to acquire Jonathan Mingo via trade at the deadline. It's so unclear to see where the Cowboys go from here. The first bit of advice for Jerry in starting that plan, use the curtains on Cowboys games as well.
