Josh Dobbs Might Never Be A Fantasy Astronaut Again

Josh Dobbs had a very up-and-down season in 2023, as he had to deal with playing on two different teams: an abysmal Cardinals roster and the Vikings, for which he was thrown into the starting position.

Throughout the season, he had 5 finishes inside the top 10 quarterbacks and 4 games outside of the top 20. It is kind of ridiculous that he even got those 5 top 10 finishes. That three-week stretch (Week 8-10) where he was QB7, QB5, and QB3, managers who needed QBs sold a decent amount to get him, and now he has little value.

In the offseason, the 49ers signed him as Brock Purdy's backup. If Purdy goes down, Dobbs would be thrown into one of the best situations a quarterback could ask for, with smart coaching and all the talent around him.

Dobbs also can run the ball at a decent level, as he had 421 rushing yards in the 2023 season, which would raise his floor if given a chance to play. As of now, Dobbs should not be rostered in almost all formats. However, if Purdy gets injured, Dobbs may be one of the best waiver wire pickups of the year.
