Kenneth Walker Could Be A Great Value In Fantasy
Kenneth Walker is walking into a slightly unknown position with a new Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator, which should help him maintain the workload he deserves. In 6 games last year, Walker played under 50% of snaps; 4 of those games came after he scored 6 touchdowns in 6 games.
Yes, he missed two games, but those came after his downgrade in touches. Zach Charbonnet is a good back, but he doesn’t offer the home run ability. Walker adds that Geno won't take much of this rushing share away from the backfield, either. Last year, Walker got around 57% of the carries; it's not out of the question for him to hit around 60 again.
Seattle had one of the highest passing rates in the NFL last year at a whopping 60%. Expect this to return to around the league average of 56%. Ryan Grubbs’ offense at Washington was a very explosive downfield attack, but much of that passing was based on play action.
Expect this new staff to lean on Walker and Charbs to open everything up. Walker has yet to hit his ceiling in the league, but his floor, even in a split timeshare, is RB19 or higher. Right now, he is going off the board as RB10. This may be closer to his ceiling than fantasy managers are willing to accept. Waiting for him to fall due to his decreased production in the back half of last season might be a more prudent way to assess his value.
Our consensus projections for Walker in the 2024 season are 254 carries for 1,110 yards and 8 touchdowns. In the receiving game, his consensus projection is 45 receptions for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns.
