Lex Of It: Giants Risers & Fallers in The Epic 24-20 Win

New York Giants pull out week six with a 24-20 win at home verse the Baltimore Ravens. We will take a look at the stock report for players who helped the team win, while also delve into players that lost stock with poor play. Let’s take a deeper dive in the stock risers & fallers of week six.

The Giants rallied late to upset the Baltimore Ravens, 24-20, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This is just another late comeback win, for the G-Men who have done this throughout this young season. Big Blue’s record to an improbable (5-1) and has them second in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles (6-0).

Giants Stock Report Risers & Fallers

Stock Risers

Tackle Evan Neal

Former Alabama Evan Neal had his best game of the season against the Ravens. It certainly wasn’t flawless, but the rookie right tackle finally showed why he was taken as a top ten selection. The G-Men’s offensive line wasn’t great on Sunday. Evan was the best tackle against the Ravens, Andrew Thomas struggled. Neal showed up in key moments especially on third down in one and one blocking assignments.

Safety Julian Love

Julian Love played a huge role in the New York Giants comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens. The Giants were trailing 20-17 with three minutes to play when MVP candidate Lamar Jackson mad an ill-advised pass into coverage. To the surprise of nobody that watched him at Notre Dame, Julian Love picked the pass off and returned it to the Ravens 13-yard line.

Stock Fallers

Linebacker Tae Crowder

Big Blue’s linebacker Tae Crowder has played well this season. Against the Ravens, Sunday’s might be one he wishes to forget. There were several instances where Crowder seemed out of position or put into a bad position in coverage. He also struggled with Baltimore’s massive fullback, Patrick Ricard. The former Mr. Irrelevant finished the game with just three tackles (two solo).

Running back Matt Breida

Giants running back Matt Breida had a tough day and because of that he is in the “stock faller” section. After Breida’s key first-down catch that ended with him taking a huge hit. The fact that he held onto the ball was remarkable. But it really was his only plus play on Sunday. That reception went for fifteen yards. Breida had four other touches went for -4 yards, including three rushes for -6 yards and a long of one yard.

Giants Players Quoted During & After The Game

“We don’t fold,” Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward said. “There’s gonna be some heads down [when the Ravens took a 20-10 lead], but it’s our job to keep ’em up. This is the ‘don’t fold’ team. Just to let you know, those are our two words, we don’t fold.”

“The roar of the crowd, baby,” Jackson told NorthJersey.com, part of the USA TODAY Network. “Heard ’em and I knew, turned to see the ball bouncing out there and I was like, ‘We got this. It’s over.'”

Saquon Barkley on sliding outside the end zone: “I know fantasy fans are going to be a little upset about that, but I’ve got a job to do, and that’s to do whatever I can to help my team win a football game.”

“He was on top of the world,” safety Julian Love said. “You’d be kidding yourself if you don’t want to beat your former team in any aspect. I know that he’s done a great job of not putting that on us of not making this game bigger than it was, but for sure, it means a little more to him. He had an extra chip on his shoulder. He was all smiles after the game.”

“It’s something we’ve preached since day one — since we’ve been here: coaches, people in the building. This league is hard. It’s not always going to be perfect. There will be a lot of people down on you. And you might be down on yourself, wish you could do better,” Daboll said. “But you keep on getting back up. You keep on swinging, keep on competing, regardless of the score or the situation of the game. And that’s not easy to do, right? That’s not easy to do when you’re down.”
