Louisville Set To Compete Against A Familiar Face

Coming off a loss to Tennessee, Louisville basketball looks to bounce back tonight and get a win against an across-town foe with whom they are familiar with.

Keeping The Vibes Up

Just two Saturdays ago Louisville faced off against top-15 opponent, Tennessee. Tennessee would beat Louisville by a substantial margin, over 20 points to be exact. However, the game itself looks more out of hand than it actually was. At one point in the second half, Louisville would cut the lead to single digits, but Tennessee's impressive shooting would pull them away.

This week during Pat Kelsey's press conference, Coach Kelsey was most impressed with how his team responded to the loss saying "They were leaning forward, bright eyed and bushy-tailed in wrapping up the Tennessee game in terms of that day or two afterwards when we watched a lot of film on that game." "Our guys responded the right way".

Here Lies Bellarmine

Now that the team has put a new foot forward and moved on from the Tennessee game, they face a team from the same city in the Bellarmine Knights. Louisville is very familiar with the Knights playing them for the third straight year in a row. The Cards are 1-1 in that timeframe against Bellarmine since the Knights' Athletic program joined NCAA Division I.

Bellarmine's coach, Scott Davenport, has been the head coach for the Knights since 2005. Prior to accepting the job at Bellarmine, he was an assistant coach at the Louisville Cardinals under both Hall of Famers, Denny Crum and Rick Pitino.

Keys To Success

Although Bellarmine is 0-4 coming into this game, the Cards are not getting fooled. Pat Kelsey stated "They're a good team, and I know their record is not indicative of the caliber of team that they have." when asked about Bellarmine and their season thus far.

Bellarmine will play with a bunch of pace and space, normally running '5-out' or running out of 'horns'. They try to catch you sleeping on the defensive end and try for backdoor cuts often. It will be interesting to see if Louisville can defend the constant movement of Bellarmine.
