Florida State Dominates LSU With Second-Half Comeback

ORLANDO, Fla - “We are going to beat the heck out of Florida State," Brian Kelly said last week. Turns out that's not what happened at all. In the first half, LSU was making all the right moves and went into halftime with a seventeen - fourteen score lead.

It's Not Over 'Till It's Over

Florida State looked like a brand-new team and dominated LSU. Jordan Travis led the Seminoles to thirty-one unanswered points and at one point had eleven straight completions. Jordan Travis looked near perfect besides one early interception throwing for 342 yards, four touchdowns, and going for 23/31 completions. Jordan Travis looked like a legitimate Heisman contender and proved that with him under center they're not only a threat to win the ACC but to push for a College Football Playoff spot.

Out of Travis's four touchdowns, three went to Michigan State transfer Keon Coleman who at times tonight looked like the best player on the field. Coleman recorded over nine receptions, 122 yards, and three touchdowns averaging 13.6 yards per catch. He wasn't the only Seminole to make his impact in the receiving game with Johnny Wilson accounting for seven receptions and 104 yards.

What Went Wrong For LSU?

For starters, the Seminoles just played with more passion and energy and looked like they wanted this game more after the first half. Also, the LSU offensive line had no answers for Florida State's pass rush that ended up amassing four sacks on Jayden Daniels.

The young LSU secondary had no answers for Florida State's wide receivers. The Florida State wide receivers created easy separation and gave Jordan Travis easy read throws that helped Florida State dominate not only the scoreboard but the time of possession too. Florida State had the ball for 35:23 compared to LSU's 24:37. That was the game right there.

If the hype wasn't real for Florida State before, it definitely is now. Florida State looks ahead to Jimmy Buffett's alma mater - Southern Miss. While LSU looks to bounce back against Grambling.
