Michigan Just Won A Title That Will Be Taken Away
Michigan just won the college football title but will be vacated here shortly.
Of course, the NCAA is investigating Michigan for cheating for in-person scouting of illegally stealing signs, and the Big Ten suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh for the last three regular-season games due to the allegations.
Here is this thing that is going to be very tricky for Michigan: the leader of the sign-stealing scandal, Connor Stalions, was on the staff for most of the season before stepping down, which could still result in the NCAA vacating the title since he was part of the staff for that season.
I will say the cheating scandal was blown up before their four most challenging games of the season against Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, and Washington, and they still managed to win all four of those games, so I don't see how cheating was an advantage.
Michigan was the best team in college football all season, and screaming that they cheated is something you can do because there is evidence to back it up, but you can't say that is why they are now champions of the college football world.
Michigan has great players and is very well coached, and that's why they won a title, not because they stole signs for three years, but the NCAA won't look at it that way. The NCAA will see that they cheated and probably have to vacate everything.
I'm not saying that Michigan won a title because of cheating, but that is not true. Watching them play, you know they are just better than everyone else, but I'm not the NCAA who will look at it entirely differently, and if they find Michigan guilty of this scandal, they will be done.
