NCAA Women's Basketball Schedule Nov. 17
Why would anyone watch the NFL today, November 17, when the NCAA Women's Basketball Schedule is so enticing? There are five games in particular that should have the full attention of any basketball fan. Here's a look at the matchups, what times they are, and what to watch for.
NCAA Women's Basketball Schedule
#1 South Carolina vs East Carolina 2:00 PM EST
The nation's top-rated team, South Carolina, comes into the matchup with a record of 3-0. They opened their season with a 68-62 win over Michigan. They followed that victory with a 71-57 win over NC State, and then a 92-60 win over Coppin State.
Junior forward Chloe Kitts is the model of consistency for the Gamecocks. She is averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds and posted 19 and 10 in their last game. Freshman Joyce Edwards is a 6-3 forward with a skill set like no other. She's averaging 9.3 points and 6 rebounds and should see extended minutes in a potential blowout today. It's a great opportunity to get a view at the future of women's college basketball and the WNBA.
#6 Notre Dame at Lafayette 2:00 PM EST
The Fighting Irish are also 3-0 coming into their game, on the road, against Lafayette. They are averaging 100 points per game, and have six players averaging double digits in scoring. This should be another blowout for the best basketball team in South Bend.
Sophomore guard Hanna Hidalgo is averaging 23.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. She's also getting a mind-boggling 5.3 steals per game. This team also features two players who will be selected in the top 10 of the WNBA Draft. The senior backcourt of Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron are averaging a combined 28.2 points, 14 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. The scar thing about this team is the third biggest story today is their star freshman, 6-5 forward, Kate Koval.
#12 Ohio State at Belmont 3:00 PM EST
Freshman guard Jaloni Cambridge exploded in her NCAA debut. In a 104-69 blowout of Cleveland State, the four-star recruit dropped 31 points, to go with 6 rebounds and 6 assists. She is pure electricity with the ball in her hands, and should light up an overwhelmed Belmont squad.
Chance Gray is the other backcourt star. The 5-9 junior is averaging 19.5 points per game. The young guns are the reason to watch this game, but seniors Taylor Thierry and Ajae Petty are attention grabbers as well.
#5 UCLA vs Arkansas 7:30 PM EST
One word best describes the 3-0 Bruins, and that is "size". Lauren Betts anchors the team on offense and defense. The 6-7 junior center is averaging 22 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. She should have her way with an Arkansas team, whose tallest player is 6-4 sophomore Vera Ojenuwa.
Junior forward Gabriella Jaquez stands 6-4, and is averaging 9.5 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Timea Gardiner is 6-3, and averaging 11 and 5. The size will be too much for the Razorbacks to counter, and this should be a 20 or 30-point victory for UCLA.
#4 Texas at DePaul 7:30 PM EST
The Longhorns are averaging over 100 points per game to start the season. They travel to Chicago, to take on a DePaul team that shouldn't be much more than a warm-up game for them. Sophomore Madison Booker is leading the team in scoring at 18 points per game.
The most exciting part of this game is the three outstanding freshmen that will play for Texas. 6-1 forward Justice Carlton is averaging 11.5 points and 4 assists per game. Guards Bryanna Preston and Jordan Lee are averaging a combined 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists per game. The Fab 3 should have no issues with DePaul.
