New York Giants Bolster Offensive Depth With This Signing
The New York Giants are entering a big season ahead of them for 2024. With the future of quarterback Daniel Jones still up in the air, the decision looms on whether the team will roll with the former first-round pick out of Duke or draft a new signal caller such as JJ McCarthy, Bo Nix, or Drake Maye.
But whoever starts in the Big Apple will need some weapons to throw to. While he may not start, the Giants have added depth at wide receiver, signing former Steelers and Ravens wide receiver Miles Boykin to a one-year contract.
Miles Boykin Adds Depth To Giants Receiving Room
Miles Boykin was drafted out of Notre Dame in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. In his rookie season, he caught 13 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns, including a career-long 50-yard touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson.
He topped that with a career-high 266 receiving yards and four touchdowns off 19 receptions. He was healthy for all 16 games with the Ravens. Unfortunately after starting 24 games in two seasons, Boykin only played in eight games while starting one in 2021 due to injury. He only caught one pass that season for six yards.
After his release in 2022, Boykin signed with the Steelers, where he only caught five passes in two seasons as he fell down the depth chart.
After recording 32 receptions for 464 yards and seven touchdowns in his first two seasons, Boykin has only had six receptions for 34 yards in three seasons since then.
Will the Giants be able to get Boykin into action after a couple of down years in the Steel City? Boykin showed flashes in Baltimore and if the Giants can get the most out of him, he could be a good third or fourth option in the G-Men's offense.
