New York Giants Just Acquired This Pro Bowl Offensive Player

The New York Giants have a new addition to their offense for the 2024 season. The team recently signed former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson to a one-year contract worth 1.4 million dollars. The 30-year-old is entering the eleventh year of his football career and will be on his third team in the past three seasons.

Allen Robinson II Has Been A Star Since 2014

Allen Robinson was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The former Penn State wideout was the 11th wide receiver taken in his draft class. While he showed potential in his rookie season, Robinson broke out in 2015 when he caught 80 receptions for 1,400 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.

He continued his success the next season in Jacksonville but would leave in free agency following an injury-plagued 2017 season. That offseason, he decided to sign with the Chicago Bears. He found immediate success in Chicago, racking up over 1,100 yards twice in his first three seasons. For the first time in his career, he also caught more than 90 passes in back-to-back seasons.

Robinson only caught 38 receptions for 410 yards after sliding down the depth chart to breakout receiver Darnell Mooney in 2021. The departure of quarterback Mitch Trubisky also contributed to the lack of production, as Chicago was more run-friendly that season.

Robinson played in Los Angeles with the Rams and in Pittsburgh with the Steelers over the last two years. He was mainly signed as depth and was usually a third or fourth option for both teams. Nonetheless, he recorded over 600 receiving yards in two seasons and will now look for success in New York, where he can become a starting wide receiver again.

Robinson Will Look For A Bounce-Back Season In New York

Robinson can be a good weapon for the G-Men in a make-or-break season for quarterback Daniel Jones. He can help mentor first-round pick Malik Nabers and bring leadership to the team. This is a good signing for the Giants with low risk and high upside. Let's hope that Robinson can become the player he used to be and get close to the thousand-yard mark again.
