NFL Announces Electric Monday Night Football Matchup
The full 2024-25 NFL Schedule Release is not until Wednesday, May 15th at 8:00pm on NFL Network and ESPN2, but the NFL is giving their fans some early excitement by revealing some key matchups early. This morning, ESPN has revealed its first Monday Night Football matchup of the season.
This comes after FOX and CBS announced their top games within the past 24 hours. FOX announced that Tom Brady's broadcasting debut would start in Cleveland with the Browns facing the Cowboys in Week 1, while CBS previewed the highly-anticipated duel between Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow that would take place in Week 2.
For the second-straight year, Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets will make their season-debut on Monday Night Football, this time heading to the Bay Area to battle the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers have been Rodgers' kryptonite over the past decade. Will the Jets be able to take down the reigning NFC champions on the road?
49ers-Jets Will Headline A New Season Of Monday Night Football On ESPN
The New York Jets have high expectations entering the 2024 NFL season. The team will aim to make the postseason for the first time in a decade with dreams of making the Super Bowl. Those dreams were crushed in the opening week last season when Rodgers' debut in a Jet uniform was a disaster when the future Hall-Of-Fame quarterback tore his Achilles and would not play the rest of the season.
Meanwhile for San Francisco, they fell short of their sixth Super Bowl championship losing to the Kansas City Chiefs back in February. Brock Purdy and the Niner Gang are expected to compete at the top of the NFC once again and will be very tough to beat.
Betting: The San Francisco 49ers have opened up at (-5.5) home favorites over the New York Jets.
History: Aaron Rodgers is 6-7 against the 49ers all time since the team passed on him in 2005 NFL Draft.
Prediction: I think it will be an exciting end to the first week of the NFL season with the San Francisco 49ers defeating the New York Jets 24-21 off a game-winning field goal by Jake Moody. Brock Purdy and Aaron Rodgers each throw for over 300 yards and Christian McCaffery has over 100 rushing yards. The 49ers are 9-4 in Week 1 since 2011.
