Ohio State Brings In Former NFL Head Coach To Work With The New Offense

Updated: Jun 27, 2023

The Ohio State Buckeyes will be adding more coaching experience to the staff this season.

Ohio State’s New Hire

Philbin was the offensive coordinator for the 2010-2011 Super Bowl-winning Green Bay Packers and then was hired to be the Miami Dolphins head coach. Philbin coached the Dolphins from 2012 to Week Four of 2015.

Philbin returned to Green Bay and was named the interim head coach after Week 13 in 2018.

Philbin will be working under a very familiar face and that would be the new offensive coordinator, Brian Hartline.

Hartline played for Philbin on the Dolphins from 2012-2014 so they know what to expect from one another. I think this is a great move for Ohio State. You bring in someone with NFL coaching experience and could help Ryan Day improve the offense.

He also could be a great mentor for Hartline, who will be the offensive coordinator for the first time in his career. Ohio State gets an A+ for this hire and hopefully, he brings them some huge wins.
