Ohio State Could Be Losing A Massive Coach
Ohio State hired new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien a few weeks ago, and he could already be on his way out. Earlier in the week, Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley took the Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator role, leaving an open vacancy for the Eagles.
The Athletic's Bruce Feldman stated that O'Brien could be a candidate for the Boston College head coaching opening. Feldman also noted that O'Brien flirted with the Boston College head coaching job when it was open in 2020 but obviously didn't get it.
O'Brien is from Massachusetts and spent many years coaching in New England.
O'Brien started coaching Brown University in Rhode Island in the early 1990s. He also spent two stints with the New England Patriots, his most recent in 2023.
Ohio State's head coach, Ryan Day, seems very happy with his hire of O'Brien and will turn the play-calling duties over to him.
The excellent news is O'Brien has never coached a game for Ohio State, and nobody knows what the team looks like under him, so losing him won't upset too many Ohio State fans.
