Ohio State Fans Got An Early Christmas Present On Monday

Ohio State's 2023 season went down the crap shoot after they lost to Michigan last week, and many thought there would be massive changes around the program, on Monday morning; the most significant change of them all happened when starting quarterback Kyle McCord entered his name in the transfer portal.

McCord started all 12 games this season throwing for 3,170 yards, 24 passing touchdowns, and going 11-1, but at the end of the day, his performance just wasn't good enough, and he is one of the reasons why Ohio State will not be playing in the College Football Playoff this season.

When you look at McCord's numbers, they aren't bad at all, but when you watch him on the field, you can tell he was just off at times, and he showed flashes but couldn't sustain the success.

McCord Is Gone

McCord had a significant game-winning drive against Notre Dame earlier this season and looked like a guy who would get better. The offense was going to take off, but unfortunately, it didn't happen, and the unbelievable play of Marvin Harrison Jr covered up much of the offense.

As we have seen under Ohio State quarterbacks, McCord also lacked that fire. J. T. Barrett might not have been the best quarterback ever, but he was a leader and had passion.

McCord doesn't have what it takes to be a champion-winning quarterback at Ohio State, and I think many people, including his head coach Ryan Day, realized that after the Michigan game.

It might be harsh to say, but McCord leaving is an excellent thing for the Buckeyes, and it will give a chance to either Devin Brown or Lincoln Kienholz to be the guy or get a legit transfer quarterback.

McCord will do well at a program like Rutgers, where every single throw he makes is not judged, and he can go 8-4 there and be fine.

McCord is also going into his last year of eligibility, and he couldn't sit around and wait and see what happened.

I wish McCord nothing but the best, but it is time to see someone else take snaps under center for the Buckeyes.
