Ohio State Lands A HomeTown Kid To Add To Their New Era Of Basketball
When Ohio State fired head basketball coach Chris Holtmann earlier this year and prompted Jake Diebler to become interim head coach, not many thought he would get the interim tag removed from his title and become the permanent head coach, but after what Diebler did at the end of the season, it was worth the risk, and now he just landed one of the best players in the state of Ohio.
Dorian Jones Commits To Ohio State
On Monday, Richmond Heights shooting guard Dorian Jones committed to the Buckeyes and chose them over schools like Michigan, Missouri, and Rutgers. Jones is the 13th-ranked shooting guard and second-overall player in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports.com
Getting Jones was a significant win for Diebler because keeping players from your state is massive, and Diebler, also a native of Ohio, can probably help keep players in the state.
Jones is the first player to commit to Ohio State in the 247sports class of 2025 rankings, which features 150 players, but more players are expected to commit to the program within the following year.
Ohio State is looking to make a run to the NCAA Tournament this season after missing out the last two seasons, and they have the squad to do it.
Their arch-rival Michigan is also putting a great team together with new head coach Dusty May, so maybe the rivalry will return to being on the hardwood.
