Ohio State Lands One Of The Best Defensive Players In The 2025 Class
Ohio State recruiting is on fire, and head coach Ryan Day just landed another star to add to his 2025 defense.
According to Hayes Fawcett from On3.com, 2025, Linebacker Riley Pettijohn has committed to Ohio State and chose the Buckeyes over Texas, USC, and Texas A&M.
Pettijohn is from McKinney, Texas, and is the fifth-ranked linebacker in his class, according to 247sports.com
The Buckeyes' entering the state of Texas and stealing a player that could've gone to Texas or Texas A&M is a significant win.
This offseason, Ohio State promoted former starting linebacker James Laurinaitis to linebacker coach, and he is paying off hugely for the team.
Ohio State now has two of the top ten linebackers in the 2025 class, and that position has been a little underwhelming the past few seasons. A few years ago, they had to turn one of their running backs, Steele Chambers, into a linebacker because of the lack of depth at the position, but it paid off very well for Chambers because he was a fantastic player and now is in the NFL.
It's safe to say that the Buckeyes won't have to go into their running back room anytime soon and take their running backs and turn them into linebackers with the depth they have coming in the next few years.
