Ohio State Lands Three-Star Prospect In The 2026 Class
Ohio State football is in full swing at the moment, but basketball is right around the corner, and fans should be excited for the program's new era.
The Buckeyes basketball team seems ready to change the narrative that they can't make the NCAA tournament with new head coach Jake Diebler.
Diebler seems like the guy who could take Ohio State to the Final Four, and on Monday, the program got some help that could make them one of the best teams in the country down the road.
According to On3.com, Ohio State lands class of 2026 power forward Alex Smith.
Smith is a 6-foot-8 power forward from Upper Arlington, Ohio, and chose the Buckeyes over Indiana, Xavier, Cincinnati, and Nebraska.
Joe Tipton from On3.com stated, "Smith, a versatile four-man with the ability to stretch the floor and put the ball on the deck, is currently unranked nationally in the 2026 class but is rated as a three-star recruit by On3."
Smith has high praise for the Buckeyes program, which is why he picked Ohio State "I decided to commit to Ohio State because me and Diebler have had a consistent relationship for a year," he said. "The fact that he has specifically been the main one recruiting, and once he got the head coaching job, he didn't stop or slow down with the recruiting process. Someone on the Ohio State staff has been at almost every game they could have if not all of them."
Ohio State looks to be getting a nice player in Smith, and now the forward still has two more years of high school basketball left to develop into a better player.
Smith won't see the court for the Buckeyes until the winter of 2026, but it was still nice for the program to grab a young player who wants to be a Buckeye.
