Packers Wreak Havoc On Da Bears: MVP And Offensive Player Of The Game

In a game where many questioned how the Packers would fare on offense this year, well, we know now. There’s nothing quite like a beatdown in Week two to get back on track.

The Green Bay Packers opened up Week two of the season at home against a familiar foe in the Chicago Bears. As many know, Aaron Rodgers is the current “owner” of the Bears and once again he proved that last night with a 27-10 victory on Sunday Night Football. After two weeks of regular season play, the Packers have faced two division opponents and now sit in second place behind the Minnesota Vikings, who beat the Packers in Week one. There was one player that shined above the rest in the beatdown of the Bears.

Packers Elite Rusher Dominates Chicago

Aaron “Showtyme” Jones once again proved that he is one of the best running backs in the NFL and very worthy of his nickname. Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones were the main contributors in the Week two win, similar to how Rodgers and AJ Dillon were in Week one. Who needs a flashy receiver like Davante Adams when you have the best running back tandem in the league?

Jones did his damage on the ground and through the air for the Packers. He rushed 15 times for 132 yards and one touchdown. At first, the rush was called a pass but after further review, it was a backward pass which resulted in a rushing attempt. Nevertheless, it was a touchdown for number 33. Jones was also used in the receiving game, which is normal for him, and not a shocker to anyone. Jones had three catches on three targets for 38 yards and one touchdown. In total, he racked up 170 yards from scrimmage and combined for two touchdowns.

After only receiving eight touches last week against the Vikings, Jones was hungry and it showed. Let’s hope he keeps that hunger for the rest of the season and helps the Packers push for another NFC North title and a playoff run. At 8.8 yards per rush and 12.7 yards per reception, it’s hard not to get picked for offensive player of the game but he definitely earned the MVP in this game.

Other Notable Packers Offensive Players

There’s no “I” in team and it wasn’t just Aaron Jones moving the ball, it was a team effort. Aaron Rodgers bounced back from last week and accurately put the ball in his playmakers’ hands. He could be seen with some frustration but for most of the game, he was out there having fun with the guys on the field. Teammate AJ Dillon, who I mentioned earlier, had the big game last week but was still able to put up a decent line this week. Dillon did his work by moving the chains but he was pulled out briefly after a poor handoff from Rodgers that led to a fumble.

The comeback player of the game was Elgton Jenkins. He was able to suit up and play right tackle the whole game. Boy was he needed to fend off the edge rushers that wanted Rodgers on the ground. Once David Bakhtiari returns, hopefully in Week three, the Packers will have a forcefield on the front line that should give Rodgers enough time to reserve his dinner reservations for his offensive line the following day.

Who Will Be The Offensive Player Of The Game Next Week?

After two weeks of regular season games, the offensive players of the game have been AJ Dillon and Aaron Jones, both running backs. Will we see a wide receiver or possibly a tight end get that title next week? I guess we will have to wait and see. Other positions could be the offensive line or THE man, Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers will be going for yet another NFL MVP award this season but we will have to wait a while to find out who receives that award. In Week three, the Packers will travel to Tampa Bay to take on Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
