Parlays And Prop Bets For 2024 NFL Week Three

Updated: Sep 21

The Smart Gambler Removes The Feelings And Investigates The Stats, Trends, Gameplay And More.  What Are The Details That Stand Out For The Unseen Best Bets As The NFL Enters Week Three Of The 2024 Season?

Four Places To Look To Add A Prop Bet To Your Parlay That Many Won’t Even Consider.

When it comes to gambling, the only thing we can know is that absolutely nothing is completely certain.  That becomes an important reality to understand when looking to make parlay and proposition wagers.  One lost bet will destroy a parlay.  A shift in game plans or an injury can toss a prop bet to the garbage heap.  Knowing some of the extra details, from the off-the-field happenings to the unconsidered realities, can be the difference between tearing up losing slips and cashing them in.

In this article, we will look at five items worth considering if you are looking to place some bets on week three of the NFL season.  Apply them, cautiously and thoughtfully, as needed to your instincts and actions.

The Eagles will take the field for game three in 2024 claiming frequent flyer miles that include two hemispheres, two countries, and three time zones.

Philadelphia Eagles Need A Nap, Not A Physically Demanding Opponent

In a scheduling nightmare to begin their year that may top the Jets, the Eagles opened up their schedule with some hurdles to face off of the field.  A Friday night game in Brazil was followed by an extended break that led to a Monday night showdown.  Now they play again on Sunday.

Technically, the game this week against the Saints is the first road game for the Eagles.  That notation on the schedule is offset by the fact they were the home team in Brazil.  The first two games were exhausting slugfests that went all the way to the final seconds and featured opponents who are expected to be in the playoff hunt.

Philadelphia is going to have difficulties keeping pace with New Orleans in this game.  Alvin Kamara should have a great day statistically.

Is Maxx Crosby a true voice of leadership? Yes, yes and yes.

Gardner Minshew, Davante Adams And Brock Bowers Will Be Big For Las Vegas

One of the most misleading team statistics of the season to date involves the Carolina defense.  They actually haven’t given up significant passing yardage so far, which places them high on the charts of team passing defense.  That idea is an illusion, however, built on two disastrous performances that allowed opponents to shut down the passing attack in order to run the clock.  They currently have scored the fewest points in the league, while giving up the most.  Those totals are also not close to being challenged, with no other team within ten points in either category.

In this week’s game, Las Vegas comes to town.  Emotionally, the Raiders are on a high after knocking off one of the strongest teams in the AFC.  Add to that a tandem that is proving difficult to stop in receiver Davante Adams and tight end Brock Bowers.  Winning is a wonderful medicine for a lot of ailments in sports.  The positive vibe demonstrated last week by Maxx Crosby on the sidelines in an exchange with Gardner Minshew indicates both great leadership and that this locker room is united.

Andy Dalton playing quarterback for the Panthers will not change how the defense performs.  Expect strong numbers from the big three offensive pieces of Minshew, Adams, and Bowers.  An added bonus could be found in Zamir White, as the running back for the Raiders could see an increase in carries and production if Las Vegas builds a comfortable lead.

Brock Purdy will reinsert himself into the most valuable player talk with his week three performance.

Brock Purdy, The San Francisco Offense, And The San Francisco Defense Are Solid Choices

Plenty of people are a bit stunned following the San Francisco loss to Minnesota.  A deeper dive suggests this week is the perfect time to jump on all aspects of play from the 49ers.

The defense, loaded and capable of being the best unit in the league, has underperformed so far this year.  The Rams arrive for this game missing one of the top young receivers in the game, with second-year standout Puka Nacua on injured reserve.  Added to that is an injury sustained last week by Cooper Kupp, which could keep him out for several weeks as well.  Expect San Francisco to shut down the Los Angeles offense.

On offense, Jordan Mason is coming off back-to-back 100-yard rushing games.  Brock Purdy reached 300 yards passing and Deebo Samuel had 8 receptions for 110 yards against the Vikings.  This is an intriguing week to investigate the prop lines for George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, especially with the Rams likely focusing on Mason and Samuel.

Beyond these basic ideas, it would be wise to keep in mind that the 49ers will be looking to come out of this game with positive storylines across the board.  This is not likely to be a contest where, if they get a two-score lead, they quickly look to slow things down.  Instead, this game becomes a tone-setter, with Kyle Shanahan attempting to put the team back on track and firing on all cylinders.

Derek Carr is leading a high-powered offense that is generating plenty of opportunities for its kicker to score.

Blake Grupe Is A Surprise Weapon

Did you know that Blake Grupe is 2-of-2 on attempts of 50 or more yards this season?  It’s not only true, he’s also 8-of-11 over 50 for his career and 17-of-22 beyond 40 over the past two seasons.

Here are two interesting facts from the young 2024 season: (1) In week one, kickers went 21-of-23 from 50 yards or more on field goal attempts.  That’s a startling 91-percent success rate from long distance.  (2)  In last week’s games, NFL kickers set an all-time mark for field goals in one week by converting 73 attempts.

Grupe is kicking for the highest-scoring team in the league.  He already has 10 extra points made on the year.  The coaching staff is not afraid to bring him out for longer attempts.  As noted previously, Philadelphia is playing New Orleans this week in a game where the Eagles may be tired and scoring elevated.

Kickers with strong legs and games where they may get increased attempts should be on your radar for additions to your wagers.  Blake Grupe is one name to keep in mind when you do.

As always, gamble responsibly.  These observations are brought to you for entertainment purposes only.  No wager is a guaranteed winner.  Enjoy this week’s games and good luck with your choices.
