Patriots-Jets Score Predictions: Nowhere Close To A Foregone Conclusion This Time

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

“It’s just the Jets, we’ll be fine.” It’s a line that Patriots fans have said before every Patriots-Jets matchup, and since 2014, that has come true. But this game rings differently, with the Patriots coming off a blowout loss and at 3-4, while the Jets lie two games ahead at 5-2. With the Pats desperately needing a win, Stadium Rant comes together to predict Sunday’s game.

Score Predictions For Patriots-Jets

@coldwirematt – Contributing Writer for Windy City Rant: 17-14 Jets

“Even with the loss of their rookie running back, the Jets find a way to beat the Patriots. Belichick has created a disaster on offense after pulling Mac Jones in their Monday night home loss to the Bears.”

The Patriots certainly have caused some tension in the locker room with the wishy-washy approach to the QB situation. Hopefully, their early commitment to Mac Jones can change that. The loss of Breece certainly hurts them, as Matt pointed out, but the acquisition of James Robinson alongside Michael Carter can help partially account for it.

@TheMeghanHall – Managing Editor For Indy Intercept: 25-21 Jets

“The Jets keep finding ways to win games. I’m totally here for it. I think they continue that streak against the Patriots who are having some questions on offense with Mac Jones

Seems like the questions on offense point is coming up a lot, but it’s warranted. The Patriots need to instill confidence in their quarterback to get the best out of him and Mac needs to be given time to settle in. Regardless, the fearsome Jets front seven will be a problem. The Patriots will need their duo of Stevenson and Harris to open up the offense.

The Jets do keep finding ways to win, but the Patriots on defense pose a new challenge. Last week’s Jets win was a seven-point win against a Broncos team down to Brent Rypien, and the offense looked vulnerable. Look for the ferocious, hungry Patriots team to take advantage.

@Kailani_SCH – Managing Editor For Giants Gridiron: 31-17 Jets

“Jets young defense is hungry. Last four weeks have had “Rookie of the week” Breece Hall 2x (IR), Garrett Wilson, “Sauce” Gardner.”

The Pats offense and the Jets’ defense pose a bad combo for the Patriots, and a rookie class that is arguably one of the best in the NFL strengthens that. However, look for the Patriots’ own rookie receiver Thornton to stretch the field and capitalize on play-action opportunities.

@patsdowney – Contributing Writer For Gillette Gazette: 21-17 Pats

“This will be a pretty low-scoring affair since both teams feature dynamic defenses. Mac Jones will have a point to prove after the Monday Night disaster and Zach Wilson will struggle against the Patriots pass rush and secondary. The Pats featured notable names on their injury report, however, so that could swing things in an interesting direction.

Zach Wilson hasn’t been the reason for the Jets’ run of games. The Patriots’ defense should be able to capitalize on that. This game will be quite ugly with two struggling offenses and two great defenses.

My Own Thoughts

I am predicting a 20-10 Patriots win. The Jets have done well to get to 5-2, but one of those wins is against a Brent Rypien Broncos team, another one had an 11-point gap with three minutes left, and the win against Pittsburgh took four Steelers interceptions. The Patriots have historically dominated the Jets and Sunday won’t be domination, but they’ll win.

The defense will make Zach Wilson get it done with his arm, which will lead to turnovers and short fields, and look for a redemption game from Mac. Expect former Jet Nick Folk to have a heavy involvement, and for the game to be close most of the way.
