Philadelphia Eagles Kill Two Birds With One Stone
Philadelphia Eagles Sign Minnesota Vikings’ Janarius Robinson
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to kill two birds with one stone for lack of a better phrase. They were able to sign the Vikings’ Janarius Robinson off of the practice squad, which not only gives them a replacement for Derek Barnett (who the Eagles placed on the Injured Reserve with a season-ending knee injury), but they also have a young guy that could have information on what to expect from the Vikings when they play each other next Monday night.
Where Did He Come From?
Janarius Robinson is a 2021 4th-round pick by the Vikings and is listed at 6-foot-5, 258 pounds. He spent his entire rookie season on the IR which is why most Vikings fans might not have heard of him. He was productive in 2020 as a Florida State Seminole, with 26 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and three sacks. He led them in sacks and was second in tackles for loss.
Very Deep EDGE Position Group
Robinson has the potential to be a very good player in this league. However, being on a team behind Za’Darius Smith, Danielle Hunter, and DJ Wonnum makes it difficult to get onto the field. He was also behind another 2021 Vikings pick in Patrick Jones II.
Rookie Season On IR
While Robinson was on the sidelines dealing with a season-ending injury, Jones II was earning a spot on the team. During this past offseason, Jones II was able to show the new leadership of Kwesi Adofo Mensah and Kevin O’Connell that he deserved a spot on this team.

Losing A Practice Squad Player
While the loss of a practice squad player should not be seen as a make-or-break part of the season, it will be interesting to see if Robinson makes his way onto the field against the Vikings this upcoming Monday night.
Insider Information Or Something More?
It will also be of note to see if they keep him on their roster beyond this game or if they just picked him up to get some insider information from him and then will move on afterward. Although it is disappointing to lose a guy of Robinson’s caliber, it is nice to see him get an opportunity in the league and I wish him nothing but the best.
