Potential Landing Spots For LeBron James

According to Los Angeles Sports anchor and reporter David Pingalore (@DavidPingalore on X), the Lakers could be looking at suitors for a potential Lebron James trade. Pingalore has called his shot in the past. He seems to have some kind of connection with these things. James agent, Rich Paul seems to disagree with the idea of him being traded, but who knows? Check the date on this tweet.

It would be crazy to see what the package would be for a guy we once thought was untradeable, and maybe he still is. Rob Pelinka would likely oblige at Lebron’s request, more than likely sending James somewhere he prefers. There will probably only end up being three or four potential suitors, should the Lakers look to move on from James.

Golden State Warriors

Although this would feel extremely odd, the Warriors just make sense for James. When asked who in the league he’d be most interested in teaming up with a few years ago he said Steph Curry. James and Curry could be a lethal duo depending on the rubble that’s left after the potential trade.

This trade would make sense from a Warriors perspective as well, as they are actively watching their championship window close due to the downfall of guys like Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins, who could all be pieces in this potential trade. Getting James would instantly open that window up for a couple more seasons, and Lebron is probably a better coach than Steve Kerr, so that would help.

Anybody not named Steph Curry should be available for trade by the Warriors, including picks to get this deal done. It should be a no-brainer for the Warriors if the phone happens to ring.

New York Knicks

Maybe the best market for Lebron James, the Big Apple could be enticing for the aging superstar. Madison Square Garden is always a favorite place for guys to play, including James as he’s said it multiple times.

The Knicks also field a pretty solid roster at the moment. Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby should be the only ones off-limits in trade talks, everybody else being expendable. (Looking at you, Julius Randle)

One problem with this trade could be the Knicks notorious loser of an owner, James Dolan. Tough to imagine Lebron and him getting along in any fashion. This feels like the least probable landing spot for the potential suitors, but can’t quite be ruled out.

Lebron James Reunion?

If we know one thing about Lebron James, he loves a good reunion. It could be in play here if James does happen to get traded. The Cavaliers and Heat could both be in play. Both are good teams that just need that little push over the top. James could provide that.

The Cavaliers could offer an enticing package centered around guys like Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen to name a few. Plus picks. Teaming James up with Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley could be awesome. It could also be enough for Mitchell to stick around in Cleveland for a little longer, or at least until James trades him away for someone he likes better.

The Heat is an intriguing thought as well, as we’ve seen them get to the top of the mountain a couple of times recently, but they’ve run out of gas near the end of the playoff run every time. Jimmy Butler does everything he can, but the man needs help. The Heat could offer a package centered around Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and maybe a young guy like Jaime Jaquez Jr.

At the end of the day, the chances of a guy like Lebron James getting traded feel slim to none, but you can’t rule out anything in this wacky era of the NBA. So much player movement all the time and Lebron could be craving a fresh start as the Lakers have been sputtering since capturing the In-Season Tournament Championship. Wouldn’t it be crazy to see Lebron James get traded?
