Predicting The Eagles 2024 Record

The NFL season is finally here. Rosters are set, and teams are ready to begin their journey toward a Super Bowl championship. The Philadelphia Eagles are among the NFL’s best and have high expectations heading into the new season. Here’s what the Eagles’ 2024 record could be:

Week 1: 9/6 vs. Green Bay

The Eagles begin the season in São Paulo, Brazil, Friday at 8:15 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles are looking to put last year’s colossal collapse behind them with a fresh start and a revamped roster. The Packers finished with a 9-8 record in 2023 and are looking to build upon their success as one of the NFL’s up-and-coming teams with Jordan Love at the helm. It will be a tough matchup to start the season, but it’s a game in which the Eagles can win.

Prediction: W

Week 2: 9/16 vs. Atlanta

The Eagles will head home to take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football in their home opener. Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles will be honored as he retires as an Eagle. The atmosphere at Lincoln Financial Field should be electric.

The Falcons made some notable off-season moves, bringing in veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins, wide receiver Darnell Mooney, and safety Justin Simmons. Their offense is looking to take the next step with Cousins at the helm and a core of Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Mooney. The Falcons could be a sneaky good team coming off a seven-win season, but that might not be enough against the high-powered Eagles in a hostile environment.

Prediction: W

Week 3: 9/22 @ New Orleans

The New Orleans Saints are coming off a nine-win season, but they’re not the dominant team they used to be. Alvin Kamara doesn’t seem to be the elite player he used to be out of the backfield, and Michael Thomas is no longer on the team at the receiver position. Derek Carr is serviceable, but he might not have the tools to outplay Jalen Hurts and the Eagles' explosive offense. The Saints' defense should be able to keep them in the game, but like the Falcons, it might not be enough to upset the Eagles.

Prediction: W

Week 4: 9/29 @ Tampa Bay

The Eagles faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers twice last season, once in the regular season and once in the playoffs. The Eagles ended with a 25-11 win in Week 3 last year, but the Buccaneers won when it mattered most. The Eagles finished the regular season with a 1-5 record in their last six games. The losing trend continued into the playoffs with a 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in the Wild Card round. It was a colossal collapse for Nick Sirianni’s team after starting the season with a 10-1 record.

The Buccaneers have a solid team. Baker Mayfield has proven that he can win games for them, and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are still one of the top wide receiver duos in the league. The defense has the ability to shut down opposing offenses, but it’s hard to imagine another blowout like the Wild Card game last year. The Eagles should come away with their fourth straight win to start the season, but this could be a trap game on the road.

Prediction: W

Week 5: BYE WEEK

The Eagles should be 4-0 heading into the Week 5 bye week. They’ll look to carry that momentum into the rest of the regular season.

Week 6: 10/13 vs. Cleveland

The Eagles come out of the bye week and take on a tough Cleveland Browns team at the Linc. Star running back Nick Chubb suffered a devastating knee injury last season, and he’ll begin the 2024 season on the PUP list as he makes his way back. Chubb will miss at least the first four games of this season, so there’s a chance he could be back on the field for this Week 6 matchup.

The Browns offense is very good, with or without Chubb. Jerome Ford proved he can make explosive plays in Chubb’s absence. Amari Cooper is an exceptional route runner who can take over a game at the wide receiver position. The Browns brought in former Denver Broncos’ 2020 first-round pick Jerry Jeudy in an offseason trade. The Browns should have a very talented receiving duo between the two. Tight end David Njoku is coming off a career year, so if Deshaun Watson can stay healthy, the Browns could have a very good offense this year.

Myles Garrett is a game-wrecker on the defensive line, and the Browns have a solid defense overall. The days of the Browns being a laughable team are over. This will be a tough matchup for the Eagles out of their bye week. The Eagles could be in trouble if they come out of the extended break rusty.

Prediction: L

Week 7: 10/20 @ NY Giants

The New York Giants are in for a disappointing season. The offense lacks an identity with Saquon Barkley out of the picture and a young wide receiver room. Daniel Jones hasn’t lived up to expectations, and there’s no reason to expect him to improve with the roster around him drastically.

The Giants do have a very good defensive line and linebacker core. It’ll be because of the front seven if they will be competitive this season. There’s just not enough about this Giants team to get excited about this year. Expect Barkley to put up major numbers in his return to the Meadowlands against the team that drafted him No. 2 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Prediction: W

Week 8: 10/27 @ Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bengals are a Super Bowl-level team. Joe Burrow has proven to be one of the top quarterbacks in the game when he’s healthy. He has the luxury of throwing to one of the top receiving duos in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Joe Mixon is no longer the Bengals’ running back, but Zack Moss and second-year back Chase Brown should have no problem taking over the duties in the backfield.

Not only is the Bengals' offense elite, but their defense is also very good. Trey Hendrickson had 17.5 sacks for them a season ago. This isn’t an easy unit for the Eagles to face. The Eagles will lose their second game of the year and first one on the road.

Prediction: L

Week 9: 11/3 vs. Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Jaguars will head to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles on Sunday Night Football. The Jaguars are coming off a nine-win season in which they just missed the playoffs. They should have the team to make some noise and potentially earn a playoff berth this season.

The Jaguars put together a young but good receiving core. Christian Kirk has the ability to be among the league’s best at his position. Gabe Davis was a great deep-threat option for Josh Allen in Buffalo before joining the Jaguars. Brian Thomas Jr. had a great season for LSU before being drafted in the first round back in April. Parker Washington and Devin Duvernay are solid options to come in and make plays when needed. Evan Engram is also coming off a career year at the tight end position for the Jaguars.

Travis Etienne Jr. is a do-it-all type of running back. He’s explosive with the ball in his hands, whether running it or catching it out of the backfield. If Trevor Lawrence can stay healthy, the Jaguars could have one of the better offenses in the NFL this year.

The Jaguars' defense should also be very good. They have guys at every level of the defense who can make plays, most notably Josh Hines-Allen coming off the edge. This won’t be an easy game for the Eagles, but they should have the advantage with it being at the Linc.

Prediction: W

Week 10: 11/10 @ Dallas

The Eagles head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys for the first two regular-season matchups. There’s no love lost between these two teams. Every season, both teams have these matchups against one another circled on their calendars. The Cowboys didn’t do much in free agency this past offseason. They had to deal with the CeeDee Lamb contract drama all training camp, but now he’s back on a new deal. There’s still some drama with a potential Dak Prescott extension looming.

The Cowboys are expected to be a really good team this season regardless of all the drama that has been surrounding the franchise. Prescott will feed the ball to Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson to make up for the majority of the Cowboys offense. The defense is good enough, with Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, and DeMarcus Lawrence leading the way. The NFC East will be between the Eagles and the Cowboys once again, and the Cowboys will win the first matchup in their home stadium.

Prediction: L

Week 11: 11/14 vs. Washington

The Washington Commanders should show improvements in 2024, but it won’t be enough to compete with the Eagles and the Cowboys atop the NFC East. Jayden Daniels is an exciting young player for them at the quarterback position, and the offense around him is solid. Terry McLaurin is a clear No. 1 receiver in the NFL, and Noah Brown is coming off two solid seasons with the Cowboys in 2022 and the Houston Texans in 2023. They drafted Luke McCaffrey in the third round of this year’s draft, and Dyami Brown will look to get more opportunities with Jahan Dotson now with the Eagles.

Brian Robinson Jr. had a very good season running the football last year as well as catching the ball out of the backfield. The Commanders did bring in former Los Angeles Chargers star running back Austin Ekeler to add to the running back room. He’ll make an impact in the receiving game out of the backfield. Veteran tight end Zach Ertz should also serve as a nice security blanket for the rookie quarterback.

The Commanders' defense has some playmakers, but it might not be enough to stop the Eagles' offense. The Commanders' offense will likely struggle at times with Daniels figuring things out at the NFL level, so the Eagles should be able to take care of business against their division foes on Thursday Night Football.

Prediction: W

Week 12: 11/24 @ Los Angeles Rams

The Eagles will head out west to play the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football for their third primetime game in four weeks. The Rams have the team to be competitive and make a playoff push. Matthew Stafford is still putting up numbers and giving his team a chance to win, even at his age. Kyren Williams has quickly developed into one of the NFL’s most dominant backs, and rookie Blake Corum should be a nice complimentary back to him. When healthy, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua are arguably one of the top wide receiver duos in the league. This is a Rams offense that can make opposing defenses miserable.

The Rams have a solid defense, as well. There are players at each level that can make a difference in a game. The Eagles need to be at their best to take down the Rams on the West Coast. This could very well be a loss for the Eagles.

Prediction: L

Week 13: 12/1 @ Baltimore

The Eagles will stay on the road and take on the Baltimore Ravens in a late-season matchup. This Ravens team is no joke. Lamar Jackson is one of the most dynamic quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen. To make defending against Jackson that much harder, the Ravens signed former Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry in the offseason. With the addition of Henry, the Ravens might have the most formidable rushing attack in the NFL this season. It might be one of the most formidable rushing attacks in NFL history.

Defenses will have their hands full with Jackson and Henry which will open up opportunities for All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews to make plays in the receiving game. The Ravens could use RPO and play-action to their advantage which will give Andrews and the Ravens’ receiving core plenty of opportunities to catch defenses off guard. This Ravens offense should be among the best in the NFL this year.

Not only do the Ravens have an elite offense, but they also have an elite defense from top to bottom. The Ravens should be a legitimate contender for the Super Bowl. This matchup between the Eagles and the Ravens could be a preview of Super Bowl LIX.

Prediction: L

Week 14: 12/8 vs. Carolina

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a two-win season, which might be their fate again this season. Bryce Young still has a lot to prove, and the offense as a whole doesn’t have the firepower that many other teams do. The defense took a hit with trading Brian Burns to the New York Giants. He has 46 sacks and eight forced fumbles in his five-year career. This should be an easy win for the Eagles at home.

Prediction: W

Week 15: 12/15 vs. Pittsburgh

The Eagles will take on an in-state opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in Philadelphia. The Steelers are always competitive under head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers will have a new-look offense with veteran Russell Wilson at the helm. It’s possible that at this point in the season, former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields could be the Steelers starting quarterback depending on how Wilson plays to start the year.

The Steelers' offense isn’t the best, but it isn’t the worst either. George Pickens has shown flashes of being one of the top receivers in the NFL. He could have a breakout season with Wilson throwing him the ball. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren are a solid 1-2 punch coming out of the Steelers backfield, and they brought in Cordarrelle Patterson, who’s proven to be an explosive playmaker in his career. Former Penn State tight end Pat Freiermuth is also a solid option in the passing game.

The Steelers' defense is the key to their success. They have a very good unit with guys like T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, Patrick Queen, Alex Highsmith, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joey Porter Jr. If the Steelers' offense can take a step forward in 2024, then they’ll be a tough opponent for anyone to go against. Until they put some tape out there, the Eagles have the advantage in this matchup.

Prediction: W

Week 16: 12/22 @ Washington

This is the second and final matchup between the Eagles and Commanders in 2024. Like the first matchup, the Eagles should be able to take care of business against their NFC East foes.

Prediction: W

Week 17: 12/29 vs. Dallas

The Eagles will win at home in their final matchup against their division-rival Cowboys after losing the first matchup in Dallas.

Prediction: W

Week 18: 1/5 vs. NY Giants

This is the final regular season game of the season, so depending on playoff seeding, the Eagles could end up resting their starters in this game and heading into the postseason. The Giants aren’t a good team, so the Eagles can still win this game even if some of their backups are playing.

Prediction: W

Final Record: 12-5

Final Thoughts On The Eagles 2024 Schedule

There’s no excuse for the Eagles not to be a Super Bowl contender this year. Howie Roseman has put together one of the best rosters in the NFL, on paper. With a new offensive play-caller in Kellen Moore and the additions of Barkley and Dotson, the sky’s the limit for the Eagles' offense in 2024. The additions of Bryce Huff, Devin White, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Quinyon Mitchell should help improve areas of weakness from last season on the defense. The ceiling for this Eagles team should be 15-2, and the floor should be 9-8, assuming everything goes wrong for them. Anything short of a Lombardi Trophy will be a disappointment.
