Predicting Who Each NFL Team Should Hire To Be Their Next Great Head Coach
The NFL regular season is officially over, and the playoffs and coaching searches have begun. There are currently five head coach openings across the league, and there are going to be a handful of coaching interviews taking place over the next month.
It is crucial to land the right head coach, and here are five guys that I think would be perfect fits for every team.
Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers was the first team to fire their coach this season when they let Matt Rhule go, and the interim head coach Steve Wilks took over, and the team did pretty well under him.
Wilks went 6-6, and he will be one of their top candidates to get the full-time job this season, but hiring the interim is probably a long shot.
I think the Panthers should go after former Detroit Lions and Indianapolis head coach Jim Caldwell. They had an interview with him on Monday, and I think he makes a lot of sense for the team.
The Panthers need an experienced head coach that knows how to get the job done, and Caldwell can very well be that. One problem with him is he is 67 years old, so this could be a short-term thing, but this roster isn’t that bad, and they are in a division in the NFC South that doesn’t exactly have a good head coach or quarterback if Tom Brady leaves Tampa.
Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts had one terrible season, and they let go of head coach Frank Reich and hired Jeff Saturday to be the interim head coach right off the ESPN news desk.
Saturday did a horrible job and should not even get close to being hired for the real thing. I think the best guy for the job is Michigan’s head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Harbaugh played quarterback for the team in the mid to late 90s, and it looks like he wants to return back to the NFL. This team is in desperate mode after going for veteran quarterbacks the last few seasons and not being able to hit on any of them.
The Colts need to draft a rookie quarterback, and I think having someone like Harbaugh will help develop and coach them up will be a great thing to have.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos are next up after firing head coach Nathaniel Hackett after his only season. The Broncos were a huge mess this season after trading for star quarterback Russell Wilson and he had a year to forget.
The Broncos need to figure out how to get Wilson back on track and I think hiring former Colts head coach Frank Reich would be the best option.
I think Reich is a great coach and offensive mind and he can be the one to fix Wilson. Reich and Wilson are really big on faith, and I think that would be a great connection between the both of them.
This season will all be about fixing Wilson and Denver needs a proven head coach I know Sean Payton has been rumored but Denver would have to trade for him, and it could take a lot.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals fired head coach Kilff Kingsbury and they will be searching for a head coach. I think Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is the right guy to take over. Bienimey has been a coaching candidate for years now and has yet to be hired but going to Arizona would be perfect.
Quarterback Kyler Murray needs some help and Bienimey could be the right guy to fix him after working with Patrick Mahomes for the last six years.
Bienimey is a great offensive mind, and he needs to have a chance at being a head coach this should be a very easy hire for Arizona.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans is looking for a coach again after firing Lovie Smith and the Texans should do the right thing and make Brian Flores the guy.
Flores should have never been fired from the Miami Dolphins last season the Texans need a leader of men and Flores could change this team.
Flores took over a horrible Dolphins team in 2019 and he did a pretty good job with them.
Flores can change the culture and he knows general manager Nick Caserio from their time in New England.
I think all of these coaches make sense for each of these NFL teams and there could be more openings soon.
