Top 10 Quarterback Power Rankings

Power rankings are based on this week's and previous week's performances.

  1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Last Week: Unranked

Patrick Mahomes is off to the worst start statistically to his very accomplished career. Despite a rough start, the Chiefs are the last remaining undefeated team at 6-0. Combine the record with poor quarterback play this week and that allows Mahomes to squeak into the top 10.

The three-time Super Bowl champion had a rough performance against a stout San Fran defense. On 27 attempts, Mahomes completed 16 balls for 154 yards and two interceptions. He did use his legs well with 39 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries. This marks just the ninth time number 15 has not recorded a passing touchdown in 102 games played. With the DeAndre Hopkins trade breaking recently, it's going to be interesting to see if he can significantly elevate through the ranks.

2024 Stats: 6-0 record, 68 completion percentage, 1,511 yards, seven touchdowns, eight interceptions, and an 82.5 rating.

  1. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Last Week: Unranked

Josh Allen's inconsistent season continues, but this time, his recent performance has been positive. He had a slow start to the game against the Titans after only throwing for five yards in the first quarter. He soon changed that early in the second with a 44-yard pass to Keon Coleman. Allen and Coleman would also hook up for a 57-yard catch later in the game.

Allen finished the game with 323 yards on 21-33 throwing and a 116.1 rating. He threw two touchdowns, one to the newly acquired wideout, Amari Cooper, and one to the third-string running back, Ty Johnson.

2024 Stats: 5-2 record, 63 completion percentage, 1,662 yards, 15 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a 108.4 rating.

Last Week: 8th

Baker Mayfield had a subpar outing against a tough Ravens defense. After a touchdown to Chris Godwin got called back resulting in Tampa Bay settling for a field goal, the momentum the Bucs had died down, affecting the QB’s play.

He had two crucial interceptions, both to Marlon Humphrey. The positive was he threw for three touchdowns and had a lot of yards, but many came in garbage time. He finished the game with 31-45 throwing, 370 yards, three scores, two picks, 22 rushing yards, and a 97.5 rating.

2024 Stats: 4-3 record, 71 completion percentage, 2,017 yards, 20 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and a 107.1 rating.

  1. Sam Darnold, Minnesota Vikings

Sam Darnold struggled in Week 5 vs the New York Jets, but after a bye last week, he returned to playing like an MVP. In an NFC North clash, Darnold completed 81% of his passes for 259 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and a 103.5 rating. He also added 39 yards on the ground on four rushes.

His lone touchdown was to star receiver Justin Jefferson. The Darnold-Jefferson combo continued to be one of the best in the league as the two have combined for five touchdowns in six games.

2024 Stats: 5-1 record, 67 completion percentage, 1,470 yards, 12 touchdowns, five interceptions, and a 104 rating.

  1. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

Smith finished the day with 18-28 throwing for 207 yards, two touchdowns, 15 rushing yards and a 110.3 rating.

Jayden Daniels left the game in the first quarter vs the Carolina Panthers with a rib injury. He was unable to return and finished the game with 2-2 passing for six yards and 50 rushing yards.

Despite the injury, Daniels has been one of the league’s best quarterbacks. He has led the Commanders to an impressive 5-2 record and sitting first in the NFC East.

2024 Stats: 5-2 record, 76 completion percentage, 1,782 yards, 10 touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 107 rating.

  1. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals rolled to their third win of the season with a 21-14 victory over the Cleveland Browns. Joe Burrow kept it simple by only throwing to five different players and keeping the passes to short-yardage attempts. The two big plays the Bengals had came on their touchdowns, an 18-yarder to Ja’Marr Chase and a 25-yarder to Tee Higgins.

Burrow closed the game with 15 completions on 25 passes, 181 yards, two touchdowns, and a 108.9 rating.

2024 Stats: 3-4 record, 70 completion percentage, 1,850 yards, 15 touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 110.1 rating.

  1. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

Last Week: 6th

Jared Goff continues to play almost perfect football after another terrific outing. He led the Lions to a 31-29 victory in a divisional showdown against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.

Goff used Sonic and Knuckles, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, a lot in the passing game. The duo combined for seven catches for 83 yards. He relied heavily on Amon-Ra St. Brown, who reeled in a 35-yard touchdown.

On 25 passing attempts, Goff completed 22 balls for 280 yards, two touchdowns, and a 140 rating. The veteran QB now has three straight weeks with a rating of 140 or higher and has only 10 incompletions in the last three games.

2024 Stats: 5-1 record, 74 completion percentage, 1,627 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions, and a 111.5 rating.

  1. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Last Week: 1st

Lamar Jackson continued his campaign for back-to-back MVPs with a stellar performance in Week 7. The Ravens were down 10-0 early, but Jackson and Co. stayed composed and scored 34 unanswered points. Baltimore went on to win the game 41-31.

In the team’s fifth straight win, Lamar threw for 281 yards and five touchdowns on 17-22 throwing along with a Week 7 high 158.1 rating. Jackson also added 52 yards on the ground and had a touchdown run called back.

2024 Stats: 5-2 record, 68 completion percentage, 2,265 yards, 17 touchdowns, two interceptions, and a league-leading 118 rating.

Recap

There were not many jaw-dropping quarterback performances this week. The two quarterbacks who did excite were Lamar Jackson who threw for five touchdowns and Jared Goff who had only three incompletions and a 140 rating. Jayden Daniels drops two spots due to an injury but remains one of the league's best quarterbacks. Caleb Williams moves up two spots despite sitting at home on his coach.
