Ranking The Eagles’ 2022 Road Game Trips

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Are you an Eagles fan and love to travel? There will be some exciting opportunities next season for fans to take an epic road trip to catch a game.

The Eagles’ 2022 season will feature eight games away from home (specific dates for each matchup have yet to be determined). This includes three division opponents, three NFC teams, and two AFC teams. There are plenty of exciting destinations and cities on the schedule to make a road trip. Let’s rank the best road game destinations for Eagles fans this upcoming season:

1. Arizona Cardinals

Every time the Eagles play in Arizona, there are lots of Eagles fans. This is a popular destination for West Coast Eagles fans as well as Eagles fans who want to escape the Northeast for an extended weekend.

November and December in Philly can be dark and cold, so the Arizona sunshine and heat would make this an exciting change of scenery. The Cardinals are coming off a playoff appearance, so this should be a competitive game. Fans should add a few days to their trip to take advantage of Arizona’s beautiful desert landscapes including the Grand Canyon.

2. Chicago Bears

Chicago is one of the most exciting destinations for Eagles fans in 2022. The city is one of the largest in the country. There are numerous observation decks, museums, boat rides, bars, and restaurants to enjoy.

Chicago has cold and harsh winters, so hopefully this game happens earlier in the season. If it does, this should be a popular extended weekend for Eagles fans. The Bears will have a new coach, so hopefully the Eagles take advantage of a rebuilding team.

3. Houston Texans

The Texans are an AFC team, so the chance to see the Eagles in Houston is rare. Houston is one of the largest cities in the country and has a lot to do and see. The Johnson Space Center is a highly rated tourist destination and a must see if in the area.

Fans looking to escape the falling temperatures in Philly would enjoy the warmer Texas climate for a weekend. The Texans will be rebuilding, so this is a game the Eagles should win.

4. Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis is another place the Eagles do not play often. The city has lots of museums, shopping, a canal walk, and the motor speedway. Indianapolis offers a lot for being a smaller mid-western city.

The Colts will once again be turning to a new quarterback. They traded for Matt Ryan and former Eagles QB, Carson Wentz, was traded away to the Commanders after just one season. The Colts are still coached by former Eagles offensive coordinator, Frank Reich.

5. Dallas Cowboys

The Eagles play in Dallas every year, so this is not as popular a road trip as it once was. For those that haven’t been, the Dallas/Fort Worth region has a lot to offer.

The stadium is actually in Arlington, so if fans want to explore, they will have to rent a car. However, Dallas offers some nice museums and restaurants. The stockyards in Fort Worth are a huge tourist attraction. Jerry Jones really went all out when designing AT&T Stadium, so it’s a bucket list item for NFL fans.

The Eagles have struggled in Dallas in recent years, but it’s a neat atmosphere. Cowboys fans from Texas are a decent group of people and you’d meet a good number of fellow Eagles fans as well.

6. Detroit Lions

The Eagles will make a trip to Detroit for the second time in two years. Detroit may have a reputation for being run down, but there are plenty of hidden gems in the city.

Visitors can enjoy the museums, markets, and a riverwalk. Music is big in the Motor City as well. Fans shouldn’t need more than a weekend, but this would be a new destination for a lot of Eagles fans. The Lions are coming off another bad season and Ford Field is not always a great atmosphere, but this should be a pretty inexpensive trip for fans.

7. New York Giants

Taking the trip up to the Meadowlands is a cheap and easy way for Eagles fans to watch their team on the road. The Giants’ stadium is less than an hour and a half away from Philadelphia.

Ticket prices are usually affordable with the Giants being a bad team over the past 5 years. Lots of Eagles fans take this road trip, so it will feel like a home away from home.

8. Washington Commanders

Washington is another daytrip for most Eagles fans. The stadium is in Landover, MD which makes driving the best option. There are also trains and buses between Philadelphia and Washington D.C., but that would require a transfer to the Metro to get to the stadium.

Eagles’ fans that make this trip will get to see their former QB, Carson Wentz. The Commanders traded with the Colts to get him. Wentz has not been in the playoffs since the 2019 season and couldn’t finish the game due to a concussion.

Lots of Eagles fans show up to FedEx Field, but the stadium is, unfortunately, one of the worst in the NFL. With the newly named Commanders being a bad team, the atmosphere is nothing compared to a game in Philadelphia. Tickets are usually cheap, so that is the only good thing about a road trip here.
