Ricky Pearsall Can't Be A Fantasy Star In 2024

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Ricky Pearsall with the 31st pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. Many people assume Pearsall would play in the slot, but he has both inside and outside capabilities.

He had decent production as a five-year player at ASU and UF, with 159 receptions, 2420 yards (15.2 yards per reception), and 14 touchdowns. Pearsall can also be used in the run game, with 21 attempts, 253 yards (12 per carry), and 5 touchdowns.

Everything you see in Pearsall’s play is what Kyle Shanahan utilizes better than most of the league. The problem with Pearsall is what’s in front of him: CMC, Ayuik, Deebo, and Kittle take over 70% of the target share of this offense. This is the most recent medical update on Pearsall: Unfortunately for Pearsall, he’s been dealing with a hamstring strain in his first training camp. According to Matt Barrows, the former Gators star is expected back at practice on Monday.

He does have first-round draft capital on an electric offense that could be looking to move one of its other star receivers, which would significantly change his short-term outlook. Long-term, jump on him in the second round of rookie drafts, and you'll be happy you did in two years.

Our consensus projections for Pearsall in the 2024 season would be 37 receptions, 406 yards, and 3 touchdowns.
