Rookie Sensation Angel Reese OUT For The Season With Wrist Injury

Saddening news out of the WNBA today. The Chicago Sky forward, and Rookie of the Year contender has announced via social media that she is done for the rest of the season.

Reese injured her wrist against the LA Sparks on Friday, and it will be enough to keep her sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Center of Attention

While Reese was heavily criticized in the media throughout the season, it’s undeniable that she has had a fantastic year with Chicago. After being selected 7th in the draft, she has truly had a historic year, particularly with her rebounding.

Angel Reese will finish the season averaging 13.1 rebounds per game, the most in WNBA history. She also has the most consecutive double-doubles in WNBA history, as she averaged 13.6 points with the league-leading rebounds.

Reese vs Clark

Basketball fans have hotly disputed the ROTY debate between Reese and Caitlin Clark all season. Unfortunately for Reese, this injury probably rules her out of contention. Her team is also struggling right now, and this injury certainly doesn’t help their chances.

The Sky are currently sitting in 8th place in the standings, and with Chennedy Carter just returning from injury herself, Chicago is in serious danger of missing the playoffs.

Looking Ahead

Regardless of the injury, as Angel Reese said herself, she has come into the WNBA and made an impact. No doubt she will come back hungry in her sophomore season, looking to beat her records.
