Score Prediction: Colts Astonishingly Gut Jaguars in AFC South Bloodbath

Starting with Jacksonville, will the Colts finally put together a string of wins? It all comes down to their offense, lead by quarterback Matt Ryan.

The Colts are back at home for an AFC South brawl against the Jaguars. Down 0-3 in the division, tensions are high for the team and head coach Frank Reich. The Indy Intercept Staff and Stadium Rant staff give their predictions on who secures the victory.

J.T. Howland: Colts 24, Jaguars 16

The Colts will be out for revenge at home against a Jaguars team that should’ve won on Sunday. It’ll be much closer this time, but the team should eek out a 24-16 victory with two touchdowns from Matt Ryan and one touchdown from Lawerence.

John Boyd: Colts 20, Jaguars 12

Matt Ryan plays mistake-free football as Indianpolis gets back at Jacksonville. Indy’s defense plays closer to its full potential, keeping “T-Law” and company out of the end zone for four field goals as they try to keep pace. I expect a lot of punts as the Jacksonville defense has been strong early on this season.

On paper, the Jags are a better team. It will be close because, nothing makes sense anymore. But, Indy seems to be outmatched on every front.

Jags. The Jacksonville Jaguars. This is not a get-right matchup for the Colts OL (and a pressured Matt Ryan): pic.twitter.com/d4l2q29kpd — Stephen Andress (@StephenAndress1) October 14, 2022

Andrew Hanson: Colts 24, Jaguars 17

The Colts can and should run their offense through Taylor because otherwise, they have no offense. Jacksonville will struggle to move the ball, but the game will be close into the fourth quarter.

Alex Matteo: Jaguars 28, Colts 10

The Colts woes versus the Jaguars will continue. Trevor Lawrence will get back on the right track and will throw for three scores, and Etienne will have a rushing and receiving score. It will be his coming out party.

"This is the moment of truth for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I don't believe Trevor Lawrence, the Prince that was Promised, is going to have 3 consecutive awful games. I still believe in him." @getnickwright on why he's taking the Jags (+1.5) at the Colts: pic.twitter.com/yJe335s8DW — What’s Wright? with Nick Wright (@WhatsWrightShow) October 14, 2022

Luke Gray: Colts 17, Jaguars 10

Colts spring a slight surprise considering recent history against Jacksonville and shut down Trevor Lawrence and the Jags. Stephon Gilmore has a game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter.

Justin Perkins: Colts 23, Jaguars 14

This is a revenge game for the team. After being shut out in Week Two 24-0, the team should come in healthier and more cohesive. Jonathan Taylor should be the focal point on offense to help with opening up the passing game. Micheal Pittman, Jr. and Alec Pierce will be available (unlike the previous matchup). The Jags offense has been sputtering as of late.

Boom McGinty: Colts 31, Jaguars 9

The team gets a well-needed revenge game. Defense gets a Touchdown this game and creates four turnovers. Alec Pierce and Pittman, Jr. both produce 100 yard games. Jacksonville comes back down to reality.

Chip Bennett: Colts 27, Jaguars 13

The team will show up strong at home against the Jags. I think Taylor gets untracked, but not until the box opens up, thanks to the team getting back to the spread offense. Pittman, Pierce, and the tight ends have big days. The defense gets pressure on Trevor Lawrence.

Kev Massing: Colts 20, Jaguars 13

These two teams continue to struggle offensively in a game dominated by the defenses. Jonathan Taylor will do most of the work for the offense, who will be aided by having their best two receivers available this week. The defense gets after Trevor Lawrence all game, creating a big play that will turn the tide in Indianapolis’ favor.

Chris Lewis: Colts 24, Jaguars 14

Gus Bradley has been in his defensive bag since the loss in Jacksonville. The defense will hold the Jaguars to 14 points and force two turnovers. Offense will get something rolling this week on the ground to slow down the Jags’ pass rushers.

Meghan Hall: Colts 17, Jaguars 14

Honestly, I have no idea how this happens, but I’m picking Indy to win. The defense has been playing lights out as of late and that should bode well for the matchup. I’m still not confident in this offense to score more than 14 points, but perhaps Trevor Lawrence gifts the team a late turnover. For the love of all that is holy, find an offensive rhythm with quick, up-tempo throws. If he plays, free Nyheim Hines! (He is your “x” factor.) The team does not want to be staring down 0-4 in the division and being swept by the Jaguars.

Hoping that the addition of Matt Ryan means many more Nyheim Hines touchdowns and backflips in 2022! pic.twitter.com/foBW0F9hiF — Cody Felger (@CPFelger55) March 30, 2022
