Seattle Can't Make This Familiar Name Their Next Head Coach

The Seattle Seahawks are seriously considering a familiar name for their open head coaching position- none other than the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.

Quinn spent two stints with the Seahawks, one being in 2009 as a defensive line coach, and then returned in 2013 to be the defensive coordinator. While as defensive coordinator, Quinn played a pivotal role in taking Seattle to two Super Bowls. In the first, they emerged victorious, and in the following year, they narrowly lost to New England. These achievements underscore Quinn's potential as a head coach and provide insight into why the Seahawks are considering him for their open position.

Quinn was named the Atlanta Falcons head coach in 2015. Quinn spent five seasons in Atlanta and was fired after Week five into his sixth year. Quinn will never live down being the head coach who blew the 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI.

Quinn has spent the last three seasons with Dallas, helping turn that defense around, and he could be heading back to Seattle to be their head man.

Seattle Can't Hire Quinn

Quinn becoming the Seahawks' head coach would be a bad idea, and here's why. The Seahawks had to let Pete Carroll go because he couldn't keep up with the two bright, offensive-minded head coaches in the same division, Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan.

Seattle needs a bright, young, offensive-minded head coach to go toe to toe with both of those guys, and Dan Quinn is the exact opposite of that.

Quinn is 53 years old and is a defensive guy.

Seattle also only has a quarterback if you consider Geno Smith one, and I wouldn't, so they will most likely need to draft one, and pairing him up with a young, offensive-minded head coach could do wonders.

Seattle should turn to Houston's offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, who is young, worked well with rookie quarterback CJ Stroud, and knows the NFC West. Slowik would be an excellent hire for Seattle, and that's who could help get them back to being a legitimate team in the NFC.
