Shannon Sharpe Did What???
September 11th, 2024 has been a bad day for Shannon Sharpe. Shannon Sharpe is a former NFL Tight End and current ESPN personality. Yesterday, Sharpe went on Instagram Live and it showcased a very inappropriate and intimate moment with him and a woman.
What happened was in the 5-minute video, Sharpe was doing the "Horizontal Mombo" with a woman while live on social media. In the video, Sharpe wasn't seen doing the action with this woman named Michelle, but from the noises heard on the livestream, it was clear what he was doing. There were around 6,500 people who saw it live.
When Sharpe realized what was going on the post was taken down. He's lucky that his account was not suspended with what was going on. When the video went viral Shannon posted the following statement on a now-deleted Instagram Story.
Here is what makes this whole thing so much worse. Sharpe admitted he lied about being hacked. He went on his podcast and made the following statement in the video below.
Sharpe also admitted that he accidentally pushed the buttons to go live without noticing and threw his phone on the bed, desk, or floor. Sharpe also admitted he did not stop the livestream, but a member of his team did.
The entire ordeal is a mess. Sharpe did not anticipate this leak, creating an undesirable situation for everyone involved. Sharpe's false claim of being hacked only worsens his image, considering it was an unnecessary deception. His full apology is now available on his podcast, yet it remains a scenario that no one would ever wish to encounter.
Something important to note as well as this could cause problems with his employment at ESPN. Remember in 2021 when Paul Pierce got fired for his Instagram Live streaming him smoking and females "dancing" with him. This was in the middle of the pandemic too where he didn't wear a mask as well, which was not a good look from him at all. It got him fired from ESPN as a result.
Now Sharpe did contact executives with ESPN and others about this situation, but it's still a messy situation for both him and ESPN. Time will tell if he receives disciplinary actions from ESPN, but this event is going to follow Sharpe in the short term and long term.
