Steelers Week Five Injury Report

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a beating on Sunday injury wise against the Jets, specifically on the defensive side of the ball. With a big game against the Buffalo Bills this week, we look to see who will be available and on the field. We also have players possibly returning from IR.

Cameron Sutton – Questionable (Groin/Hamstring)

Cameron Sutton appears on the injury list once again this week with a groin/hamstring injury from Sunday’s game against the Jets. He was limited in practice all week and carries the questionable tag heading into Sunday’s game.

Ahkello Witherspoon – Out (Hamstring)

Unfortunate news came out from Mike Tomlin at his press conference on Tuesday and he reiterated that Ahkello Witherspoon would more than likely be out this week again for the Steelers. He has not practiced all week due to his hamstring, we should monitor his status to return next week.

Levi Wallace – Playing (Foot)

Levi Wallace shows up on the injury report due to a foot injury sustained on Sunday. He did not practice on Wednesday however, he did practiced limited on Thursday and full participation on Friday.

Terrell Edmunds – Questionable (Concussion)

Terrell Edmunds is on the injury report this week due to a concussion. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday, but did take limited practice reps on Thursday and Friday. Being limited on Friday he carries the questionable tag.

Minkah Fitzpatrick – Playing (Knee)

To round out the entire secondary on the injury report this week is Minkah Fitzpatrick for the second straight week. This week it is a knee injury that is bothering him. He did not practice on Wednesday but he did participate on Thursday on a limited basis and was full go on Friday. He will be available to play on Sunday.

Chris Wormley – Playing (Ankle)

Chris Wormley was put on the injury report by the Steelers because of an ankle injury. He was a limited participant on Wednesday and Thursday as well. On Friday he participated fully in practice which allows him to play on Sunday.

Cameron Heyward – Playing (Ankle/Elbow)

Cameron Heyward finds himself on the injury report after having ankle and elbow discomfort. He was limited at practice on Wednesday and Thursday as well. A big win Friday when Cameron Heyward was a full participant in practice, he will be available on Sunday as well.

Diontae Johnson – Playing (Hip)

Two new Injuries appeared on the Steelers Injury report on Thursday, one being Diontae Johnson. He is listed with a hip injury, he was limited on Thursday for practice and a full participant on Friday. He will be out there catching footballs from Pickett on Sunday.

Mason Cole – Playing (Foot)

It was a double whammy for the Steelers offense on Thursday as Center Mason Cole was listed with a foot injury. He was limited in practice on Thursday and Friday. With him being limited it odd to see him without a questionable tag, but the Steelers do not have much concern with him so he will be playing on Sunday.

Calvin Austin

A new name some might not recognize is making rounds in the Steelers media. Calvin Austin, the rookie wide receiver drafted out of Clemson was finally eligible to practice this week. The Steelers will have 21 days to activate him to the 53-man roster. Calvin has said that he believes that he is ready, saying ”I’m just waiting on Coach Tomlin’s word.”

T.J. Watt

One last guy we can touch on is the reigning ‘Defensive Player of The Year’. He will be eligible to return from the IR next week. The Steelers are very hopeful for his return, I would be too with an 0-7 record without him, I digress. Getting T.J. Watt back in Week Six would be the absolute best case scenario. I personally think they will give him a good week of practice before letting him go. I expect him back in Week Seven.
