Steelers Week Ten Injury Report

The Steelers face a much-needed win against the New Orleans Saints this week. Which players will be available this week on the field to help get that win?

Chris Boswell – Out

An unfortunate re-appearance to the injury report is kicker Chris Boswell. He injured his groin a few weeks back, making him unavailable for the Week Eight game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, he did not practice all week, making him unavailable against the Saints this week.

There could be more time missed by Chris Boswell than expected. On Wednesday, the Steelers signed Matthew Wright from the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. Because he arrived from a practice squad, he must remain on the roster for a minimum of three weeks, which means Boswell will likely miss that allotted time.

William Jackson III – Out

Newly acquired trade William Jackson III will start his Pittsburgh Steelers career on the bench this Sunday against the Saints. He is dealing with a lingering back injury that has sidelined him for the last several weeks. Jackson III did not practice all week, labeling him under the out column.

Ahkello Witherspoon – Out

Another week and Ahkello Witherspoon is on the injury report. Witherspoon returned to the field in Week Eight after missing multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, he has the same hamstring injury he has been dealing with since Week Three. As a result, he did not practice all week and will not be available on Sunday.

Levi Wallace – Playing

Another Steelers secondary player shows up on the injury report in Levi Wallace. He shows up due to a shoulder injury. He was a full participant in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday practices. He will be suiting up for the Steelers this weekend.

Christian Kuntz – Playing

A new name to show up on the injury report is Christian Kuntz. He is the long snapper for the Steelers and shows up on the report due to a rib injury. He was a full participant in practices all week, so he should be cleared to play on Sunday.

Myles Jack – Playing

A big name to show up on the injury report is Myles Jack. Myles is dealing with a knee injury this week. He did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. A big turning point on Friday when Myles Jack practiced fully. He will play on Sunday; this was massive news for the Steelers. He is such an integral part of the linebacking core.

Larry Ogunjobi – Playing

Another big defensive player shows up on the injury report in Larry Ogunjobi. The defensive tackle is battling through a knee injury this week. With a glimmer of hope after not practicing on Wednesday, he returned to practice in a limited fashion on Thursday and was a full participant on Friday. He will be available for the Steelers this weekend.

Non-Injury Related

The first non-injury-related player on the report is linebacker Malik Reed. He was on it due to personal reasons. He practiced on Wednesday but missed Thursday; he practiced under the limited tag Friday. He is questionable to play on Sunday.

The next name on the non-injury-related report is Defensive Tackle Cameron Heyward. He was given a veteran-day off. Now and then, they will give the older players extra rest these days. He will not have a designation on Sunday and is available.

Late Additions

The Steelers had a few late additions to the injury report on Friday. A late add to the injury report is offensive lineman Kevin Dotson. He has an abdomen injury that had him limited in practice on Friday. The Steelers labeled him as questionable for Sunday because he was a limited participant on Friday. I expect him to suit up and play on Sunday.

Another late addition to the injury report is safety Damontae Kazee. Seeing him on the report is odd because he was a full participant in practice all week. He does not have a designation for Sunday and will be available.

Final Thoughts

One thing is sure with all of the news on the Steelers’ injury report, this defense has dominated this injury report, and it does not seem to be letting up any time soon. The good news for the Steelers defense is that T.J. Watt is finally back off of injured reserve. What a massive boost in confidence for this defense; his absence has been felt with this struggling defense.

The good news in the injury report is there were not too serious of injuries. I’ll live with tick-tacky injuries here and there; the multiple-week injuries can hurt a season. The only genuine concern I have is Ahkello Witherspoon; being on the injury report has been a common theme for him. After returning and reinjuring his hamstring, I am nervous that he will miss a significant amount of time. The Steelers will take on the New Orleans Saints Sunday at Acrisure Stadium at one pm/est.
