Ta'Niya Latson Stats Are Amazing

Ta'Niya Latson, Stats, NCAA, Women's

There is a great deal of chatter, and rightfully so, concerning Paige Bueckers and the upcoming WNBA Draft. She and Kiki Iriafen will vie for the top spot, so the nation is keeping their eyes on the two of them. What fans might be missing, is a force more powerful than any tropical storm, hitting the courts for Florida State.

Ta'Niya Latson did not come out of nowhere. As a freshman in 2022-23, she averaged 21.3 points per game in 29.5 minutes per game for the Seminoles, helping lead the team to a 23-10 record, and anchoring the ninth-best scoring offense in the nation.

The following season, Latson's minutes went up to 31 per game, and she averaged 21.4 points per game. She came into this season with high expectations, and though it's hard to fathom, she has exceeded them by a wide margin.

The 5-8 Junior guard is averaging a blistering 27.3 points per game in just 23.3 minutes per game. She is shooting 45% from the floor, including 50% from three. She has exceeded 25 points in three of four games this year, managing just 21 points against Florida A&M, because she only played 18 minutes.

Ta'Niya Latson stats are impossible to describe. She is averaging 1.16 points for every minute she is on the floor. In Florida State's game Monday, she had 34 points and 10 assists in just 29 minutes against North Carolina Central. The Naysayers might pick apart her opponents so far, but this is every team's easy part of the schedule, and no one is doing what she is.

Stadium Rant reached out to Nick Andre, who does an outstanding job covering the Seminoles for Chop Chat, a Fansided affiliate. His coverage of the Seminoles is second to none and he has been more than impressed this year. "Sure, she's an elite scorer," Andre said, "However, Latson has shown other ways to impact the game, like taking on playmaking duties, while also being a pest defensively."

Latson will be mentioned with WNBA lottery picks now and in the future, until she finds herself among them in 2026, possibly the first overall pick. When talking about how she fits in among her peers, Andre says she is on par with all of them.

"As the season progresses, Latson's name will continue to be in conversations next to stars like Juju Watkins, Paige Bueckers, Flau'jae Johnson, and several others as one of the top guards in the country."

This is high praise from a respected writer. To take it even a step further, and this is not hyperbole, Latson isn't being mentioned among the best players in the country. They are being mentioned with her. Florida State plays in-state rival Florida on Friday at 7:00 pm EST. Nobody who considers themselves a basketball fan should miss this game.
