Tennesse Titans Part Ways With This Former 1st Round Pick

NFL Final Cut Day occurred yesterday and many notable names were released. It's a difficult day as players lose their jobs and potentially their careers. Its one of the most difficult days for the managers to narrow down the rosters. One name that sticks out from the bunch was a former first-round selection by the Tennessee Titans. The Titans decided to cut ties with CB Caleb Farley.

Caleb Farley was taken by the Tennessee Titans in the 2021 NFL Draft in the first round, 22nd Overall. He fell in the draft and was seen as a prospect too talented to pass on despite the injury concerns. Farley was expected to be the key cornerback on the Titans defense, but it ultimately did not work out.

This was not a surprising move at all and Farley's days were numbered the moment the Titans fired Mike Vrabel. Whenever a new coach comes in a new relationship will have to be formed. The new regime with Brian Callahan had no plans with Farley on their team this season. It was telling when the Titans declined his 5th-year option in May. After all hes only made 14 tackles and deflected one pass.

It also didn't help that Tennessee brought in 2 key cornerbacks in the offseason. The Titans signed Chidobe Awuzie to a three-year contract. The Titans also acquired L'Jarius Sneed via trade with the Kansas City Chiefs, giving him a massive extension.

Not only has Farley disappointed with his level of play, but Farley can't stay healthy. The usual saying is your best ability is your availability. Farley just has not been available as for the 3 seasons he only played 12 games in total. Farley has had two ACL Tears and he has had a ton of back injuries. Back injuries are not a joke and it's never a good sign when a player needs to have a microdiscectomy done to fix the issue. Recently, Farley had an issue with his Hamstring in training camp and preseason. Clearly, he is injury-prone, which is a massive problem.

The Titans ran out of patience and the team just decided to part ways with Farley. It is a shame that Farley just could not stay healthy in Tennessee as he showed potential when he was able to step on the field.

One team to keep an eye on who could give Farley a chance is the Cleveland Browns as Mike Vrabel is there and he could put in a recommendation for him. However, his injuries are a tremendous issue and there is a chance that he remains unsigned this season.
