The Atomic Drop of Lies Told By Hulk Hogan (Part 1)

When many think of the name Hulk Hogan, there are quite a few descriptions for him. The two words I commonly use on Hogan is "Pathological Liar". Hogan has turned lying into an art form with the way he manipulates and tells his story. So, lets reflect on some of the biggest lies he's told throughout his career. Let's start with the first 10

  1. Hogan's Make-A-Wish Kid Lie

SummerSlam 1992 Logo

This is one of Hulk's most disgraceful lies. Hogan has repeatedly claimed that he was touched by a make-a-wish kid when he invited the kid to see him at SummerSlam 92. When Hogan went out, the seat was empty and claimed he knew the kid was a goner by the smell. He was so touched that he wanted to record a song, and included the line “I guess there will be an empty seat when I wrestle at Wembley". Here is the problem, he never wrestled at that show. He wasn’t on that card and never wrestled in Wembly till he joined WCW. Not at Wembley Stadium, but at Wembley Arena. Nice try Hulk and shame on you for lying about the Make-A-Wish Kid.

  1. Hogan As A Bassist For Metalica

Metalica Logo

Hogan over the years has claimed that he was a skilled bassist. So skilled that he was approached to play bass for Metalica. He was even quoted saying the following.

"I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler. I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out."

The problem is, the band has publicly come out and told everybody that it was not true. Heck, Lars Ulrich himself was asked by Howard Stern about it and said that he never even met the guy once. Even James Hetfield, the most notable member of the band, was laughing about it and said Hogan is full of it.

3. Claimed That He "Discovered Kevin Owens"

Kevin Owens

This is a lie that makes many fans shake their heads. In 2015, Hogan went onto the Radio Yorkshire show for an interview and claimed that he was the first person to see Kevin Owens as "The Guy". Especially after he watched him in NXT and understood how to get heat the old-school way. He even said the following statement below.

“Well, I hate to brag about it, but I’m the first one to point the finger at Kevin Owens.”....' that's the guy. I don't care if he looks like a wrestler [or] looks like an ice cream salesman. I don't care. That's the guy.'"

Does Hogan realize that Kevin Owens had signed with NXT, to begin with by WWE? If Hogan was the first person to spot and discover him, how did Owens get signed? It was William Regal who reached out to Owens for a tryout and saw something in him. Also, Owens was a popular and successful run in the Independent Scenes, wrestling under the Kevin Steen name since 2000.

  1. Never Had Any Creative Control in WCW

Bash At The Beach 2000 (Hulk Hogan vs Jeff Jarrett)

Hulk Hogan went onto Logan Paul's podcast and made some ridiculous statements. One tremendous lie that he told, was throughout his WCW career, he never used creative control. He even stated, "I had creative control in WCW. I never used It. Never used it the whole Time". Oh really? Bash at the Beach 2000, and Starrcade 1997 are two big WCW scandals that involved Hogan using his creative control card. Even Eric Bischoff, the malcontent and known Hogan yes-man, testified under oath that Hogan used his creative card multiple times. Hogan isn't fooling anyone here brother.'

  1. Was Offered The Role Of Randy "The Ram" In The Movie "The Wrestler''

The Wrestler Movie

The Wrestler was a movie made in 2008 and it was fantastic. It won multiple awards and Mickey Rourke, who played Randy "The Ram" in the film, got a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination. How does this Involve Hogan? Well, he went on to claim that he was originally considered to play the main character but turned it down. That lie was immediately called out by the director, Darren Aronofsky who tweeted the following,

For the record the role of the wrestler was always @mickeyrourke it was never Hulk Hogan's as he claims on @howardstern

6. Hogan And John Belushi Partied after WrestleMania 2

John Belushi

This is one of his most hilarious lies. In 1986, Hogan wanted to go out and have fun to celebrate a "successful night" In WrestleMania 2. Hogan wanted to hang out with the celebrities there and he named Belushi. They went out to party and Hulk claims he outdrank him. The problem is that John Belushi passed away in 1982, and WrestleMania 2 happened in 1986.

7. The Undertaker Injured Him On The This Tuesday In Texas PPV

Undertaker vs Hulk Hogan

This was a long-heard rumor until The Undertaker confirmed it during a shoot interview. Hogan once told 'Undertaker that he had caused permanent damage to his neck by botching a tombstone spot. Taker believed him for the better part of two years and feared that his career was over. Then he finally saw a tape of the match, and Shane McMahon told him Hogan's head came nowhere near the chair. When confronting Hogan about it Hulk claims “Oh well you had such a tight grip on me that it pulled my neck rather than the impact brother”. Well brother that's another lie and another career Hogan tried to screw over.

8. Claims To Have Discovered The Undertaker

Undertaker in Suburban Commando

More lies about The Undertaker. Hulk Hogan, in April of 2024 discussed on his website about how he discovered the Undertaker and brought him into pro wrrestling.

It’s kind of funny how The Undertaker came about. I was doing a movie called Suburban Commando and we needed a couple of really big aliens, we had one actor and we couldn’t find another guy big enough. So I remembered Mean Mark Calaway from the NWA he was working in Atlanta Georgia for [Jim] Barnett at the time, so I had somebody hunt him down and we brought him to Hollywood and The Undertaker Mark Calaway was one of the bounty hunters in the movie Suburban Commando.

Yes, the Undertaker did have a role in Suburban Commando, but that movie came out in 1991. Undertaker debuted In WWF in November of 1990 and was a part of WCW in 1989.

9.Claimed to only use Steroids 3 times during the Steroid Trials

Hulk Hogan

In 1991, Hulk Hogan went on the Arsenio Hall Show, and it was a disaster. Hulk claimed that he only used steroids three times and that was to heal from injuries. Yes, and I am the president of the Bermuda Triangle. Hulk did not look good at all on that show, and everyone called him out for lying—even "Superstar" Billy Graham admitted to injecting Hogan with steroids many times. Even Vince McMahon was not happy that Hogan lied about it. In the steroid trials, he had to admit that he did take them and abused steroids.

10. Hogan saw Kerry Von Erich 72 Hours Before His Death

Kerry Von Erich was in a bad spot in 1993. He was indicted on drug charges and violating his 10-year probation, he was facing time in prison. On February 18th, 1993 Kerry Von Erich took his own life at his father's ranch. He was 33 years old.

Hulk Hogan, in his autobiography, claims that he was with Kerry on a flight home from a Japan Tour. It was the last time he saw him, and 72 hours later, Kerry died. The problem is Kerry was nowhere near Japan in the last few months of his life thanks to the drug charges. Heck, there is no record of Kerry coming or going to Japan at that time either. Guess who else has no record of coming and going to Japan at that time as well—that right Mr. Hogan. Hogan was in the middle of a multiple-day WWF taping that occurred in the state of California.

The problem with a bulls*** artist, is that you don't know when the bulls*** stops and when the truth begins. That is Hulk Hogan every time he opens his mouth. The worst part is, that there are so many more lies that this man has told, that this type of article is going to have multiple parts. To be Continued......
