The Battle 4 Atlantis Set For Feast Week In The Bahamas

The Battle 4 Atlantis is a high-profile early-season college basketball tournament that takes place during the Feast Week of college basketball. The tournament was first held in 2011 and has since become a staple of the early college basketball season. It is held at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, and is known for its competitive field and unique location. The tournament is typically held over Thanksgiving week, adding to the excitement of the Feast Week of college basketball.

The inaugural Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in 2011 featured eight teams, including powerhouses like Connecticut and Florida State. The Connecticut Huskies, led by coach Jim Calhoun and future NBA players Shabazz Napier and Andre Drummond, won the first Battle 4 Atlantis championship. The tournament quickly gained a reputation for its high level of competition, with many games being closely contested and featuring thrilling finishes.

Over the years, the Battle 4 Atlantis has continued to attract top-tier college basketball programs. Teams like Villanova, Michigan, Syracuse, and Duke have all participated in the tournament. The 2019 Battle 4 Atlantis was particularly notable, as it featured four teams ranked in the top 13 of the AP Poll, including eventual national champion Virginia. The tournament has also been a launching pad for future NBA stars, with players like Buddy Hield, Jayson Tatum, and Deandre Ayton all having standout performances in the Battle 4 Atlantis.
