Tillman will provide depth in the front court for a team that is loaded with top-end talent. It would seem that general manager Brad Stevens is focused on solidifying the team's bench as they prepare for the stretch run.
Tillman was averaging 6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game with the Grizzlies this season. He's played over 20 minutes a game, so he won't just be a benchwarmer, even with the Celtics.
Given Al Horford's age and the inability for Kristaps Porzingis to stay healthy, this will help give them more options at center. Neemias Queta has been very helpful, but this will bolster that position with even more depth.
Looking Ahead For The Celtics
The Celtics have been up and down at points this season, but a strong trade deadline should propel them to lock in the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. It's there's to lose, and Stevens is sending a signal to the fan that they're focused on winning a championship this year.
