The Browns Could Be Moving This Star Player Now After Drafting His Replacement

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

The Cleveland Browns officially were able to make a selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, and it came in the third round at pick 74 on Friday night.

The Browns drafted Cedric Tillman the wide receiver from the University of Tennessee. Tillman stands at six-foot-three and 215 pounds and could be a starter for the Browns this upcoming season.

The New Receiver Room

Cleveland already have made a few moves this offseason for a receiver by trading for Jets Elijah Moore and signing Marquise Goodwin.

The team already took a blow at the position with last year’s draft pick Michael Woods tearing his Achilles doing offseason work earlier this month.

Browns 2021 third-round pick Anthony Schwartz is out of a job at this point, and could another receiver be looking for a new home soon?

Donovan Peoples-Jones will be heading into his fourth season and has been a huge bright spot on this underwhelming Cleveland team.

Peoples-Jones is in the last year of his contract, and the Browns could look to move him before the season starts. The Browns are probably not going to pay him since he isn’t a superstar, and they think they could probably replace him with someone cheaper.

Why This Is A Bad Idea?

The idea of trading Peoples-Jones is not a good one and it should not happen. I couldn’t care less if the Browns don’t pay him after next season. The team needs to win now, and Peoples-Jones will make an impact on that.

Peoples-Jones is the only good receiver that Andrew Berry has drafted over the past three drafts, and with the way Berry has drafted that position there is no reason to believe that Tillman will be a player in this league.

The best thing to do is leave Peoples-Jones on the roster, and then if everything goes great with the receivers that are drafted then they can let him find a new team next season.
