The Cleveland Cavaliers Extended Their Star Center On Wednesday

The Cleveland Cavaliers have not done much since the new league year started on July 1st when it comes to adding to the roster, but they have given out new contracts to players on the team. Evan Mobley and Donovan Mitchell received new deals earlier this month, and on the last day of July, their teammate Jarrett Allen agreed on a three-year, $91 million maximum contract.

Allen was an All-Star in 2022 and has been one of the better centers in the NBA the past few seasons, but a rib injury this spring cost him most of the playoffs. There were a lot of rumors that he would be traded this offseason, but it looks like he will be sticking around for a while and will get to play for his former head coach, Kenny Atkinson, who is now the head coach of the Cavs and coached Allen when he was a member of the Brooklyn Nets.

Cleveland doesn't seem like they will be making any major roster splashes this offseason, but extending three of their four most important players is a significant deal, and Cavs fans should be excited about it.
