The Eagles Finally Signed Their Last Rookie To A Contract

The 2023 NFL Draft was nearly three months ago. As of this month, six out of the seven Eagles draft picks have already signed their rookie contracts. The lone player still unsigned, Kelee Ringo, just had his contract finalized. This was important as rookies report to training camp beginning on Tuesday July 25.

Ringo's contract was set at four years and $4.6 million. He will make just under one million dollars for the upcoming season. NFL teams must sign their rookies to four-year contracts and are restricted on how much they can pay a certain player depending on the round they were drafted.

Ringo was drafted in the fourth round out of Georgia. He was a cornerback for the elite Bulldog defense. Ringo earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2022 and was a part of Georgia's back-to-back National Championship teams in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

What Does Kelee Ringo Bring To The Eagles?

The Eagles lost several notable defensive players following the 2022 season due to free agency. Some of the names include safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, linebacker T.J. Edwards, and defensive lineman Javon Hargrave. The Eagles turned to the draft and specifically Georgia players to fill these roles. Ringo was one of three former Bulldogs selected by the Eagles in this year's draft following two in 2022. With Georgia's defense being one of the best in all of college football, the team is hoping these guys can make the transition to the NFL.

In two seasons, Ringo recorded 76 total tackles (63 solo), 19 passes defensed, and four interceptions in 27 out of 30 possible games. As a projected second-round pick that went in the fourth round, he could possibly be a draft-day steal by the Eagles.

While Philly still has Darius Slay and James Bradberry as their starting corners, Ringo could step in if there are any injuries at the position. He could also use his time on the bench to develop behind some of the game's best. It will be interesting to see what the Philadelphia defense can do in 2023 with their mix of talented veterans and incoming rookies.
