Week Nine Eagles Injury Report
As the Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for their Week Nine matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, they will be without two key players. How will the team navigate this important matchup with their replacements?
One Player Has Been On The Eagles Injury Report For Multiple Weeks Already
Tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) has been ruled out for the third straight game. He was injured in the Week Six win over the Cleveland Browns. The seventh-year tight end out of South Dakota State has not practiced since leaving that game.
In his absence, Grant Calcaterra has performed quite well. He had a few key catches in this past week's win over his hometown Cincinnati Bengals. Calcaterra ended the game with three catches for 58 yards. He also had 67 yards on four catches when Philly beat Cleveland earlier in October. The third-year tight end has not recorded a score yet, but with his improving performance, he could be due soon.
The latest addition to the injury report is cornerback Darius Slay, who injured his groin in last week's win over the Bengals. Slay exited the game after limping off the field in the second half. His replacement, Isaiah Rodgers, will be making his first start since the 2022 season, which came with the Indianapolis Colts. Rodgers was signed by the Eagles for the 2023 season but sat out due to violating the NFL gambling policy. It will be an opportunity for him to prove to the league that he can still play at a starting caliber level.
On a positive note, Mekhi Becton (concussion) and Jalen Carter (shoulder) have returned to practice and will be available for Sunday's game. Landon Dickerson (knee) is also expected to play after being limited in practice. DeVonta Smith (personal reasons) missed Friday's practice but is expected to play.
The Eagles will need all hands on deck to secure a win against the Jaguars. Philly enters the game with a respectful 5-2 record but want to keep pace with surging division rival Washington Commanders.
