The Jets Could Send Their Franchise Back With This Looming Decision

Updated: Jun 29, 2023

The New York Jets have been one of the biggest jokes in the NFL over the past decade, and why would anything change now? The Jets have been targeting to trade for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and it’s pretty much a done deal if Rodgers agrees to be traded.

The Jets Are Playing The Waiting Game

The Jets are waiting to see if Rodgers will accept a trade or retire, but Rodgers going back to the Packers seems very unlikely at this point.

A report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini stated that “Rodgers has provided the Jets with a wish list of free agents which he would like them to target, and includes Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, and Odell Beckham Jr.”

Rodgers isn’t even on the roster and is playing general manager. Rodgers has played with three of the guy Cobb, Lazard, and Lewis in Green Bay, and of course, everyone wants Beckham.

The Jets did indeed listen to Rodgers’s request because they went out and signed free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard on Tuesday to a 4-year $44 million deal.

Was this something they were planning to do all along or did they do it because Rodgers gave him his Christmas list?

The Jets do need to add some playmakers for Rodgers, but they have two young great playmakers in running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

The Jets don’t need to add Cobb and Lewis to the roster, and Beckham should not be in the cards either.

Beckham has been a drama queen his entire career, and Rodgers isn’t much better, and putting the two together is not a great idea.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history he could make high school football players stars in the league.

What Happens If This Backfires?

New York is now sort of paralyzed, and they have thrown their eggs in the Rodgers basket, but Rodgers has not said he is going to the big apple yet.

If Rodgers decides to retire the Jets are in trouble. They have lost out on Derek Carr, Jimmy Garoppolo, and they probably won’t turn to Lamar Jackson.

The Jets could have their 2021 first-round pick Zach Wilson play quarterback and maybe try to coach him up before they throw him away. New York has a very good team, and they have built up a great foundation seeing them go all in for Rodgers and his wants could be something that hurts this team in the long run.
