A New Generation of UFC Fighters Is Ruining The Franchise

The next generation of UFC fighters are already making their marks and will reshape the entire franchise. The UFC is known for fighters who want a bloody match for the belt, but now fighters are begging their competition to stay active. The new era of fighters wants the opportunity to compete in heavier weight classes, even if they never won a championship.

The New Era of Fighters Have A Different Mindset

The new era of UFC fighters care more about getting the belt than defending their titles. Many of the younger fighters, like Marlon Vera and Sean O'Malley, are defending their titles by requesting to fight people they have defeated previously.

Legendary fighters like Mike Tyson and Roy Jones never requested a match with fighters beneath them. The older generation of fighters was willing to battle to the death for their titles, no matter who stood in front of them.

Substance abuse is also becoming more common in the UFC for the next generation of fighters. As of 2024, over half of all the UFC fighters were drug tested more than once. The UFC has allowed fighters to use cannabis recreationally which is going to impact the way the new generations of fighters are going to perform. A study has confirmed that frequent cannabis consumption is associated with long-term memory issues, loss of motivation, and suicidal desires.

The next generation of UFC fighters isn't dedicated to their training like their predecessors. Legends, like Mike Tyson, are aggressive and energetic when they train for a fight. The new era of fighters isn't pushing their limits when they train. Younger fighters like Jake Paul don't push themselves and are more focused on looking good for the cameras.

New Regulations and Legal Actions Will Change The UFC

The founder of UFC, Dana White, received various legal allegations and financial losses because UFC fighters didn't receive workers' compensation for any of their injuries. White has been trying to make the UFC a safer place for the fighters by updating the rules and limiting their training hours because he's legally obligated to pay them.

It's expected that retired fighters are going to fight against the younger generation. Some of the greatest champions of UFC history like Floyd Mayweather and Georges St-Pierre are coming out of retirement to fight the next era of fighters. A vast amount of the next generation of fighters is going to lose a lot of respect for going up against opponents past their prime.

TKO is the new owner of UFC and they decided to merge the entire franchise with WWE. An announcement was made by TKO stating that they plan on making changes to the UFC divisions which is going to limit how long a fighter is allowed to stay in the beginner division. The merging of UFC and WWE is going to change the way we see competitive fighting forever.

The new era of UFC fighters isn't going to push themselves like their predecessors because of the new regulations and Dana White gave TKO the rights to the franchise.
