The NFL Agent Who Made Jalen Hurts’ New Deal Possible

Updated: Jul 12, 2023

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts just signed a five-year $255 million contract. The new deal makes him the current highest paid player in the NFL. While his MVP-caliber play in 2022 and outplaying Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl 57 loss make him worthy of a lucrative contract, special attention should be put on his agent as well.

Hurts made headlines when he entered the league by having an all-female management team which is unprecedented in the male dominated sport of football. There are five women that officially advise Hurts on different aspects including contract negotiations, social media, marketing, and communications. The biggest name of this group is his agent, Nicole Lynn.

The Rising Star Of NFL Agents

Nicole Lynn is one of the younger NFL agents. She is just 34 years old and works for Klutch Sports, one of the leading firms in NFL circles. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2015 and attended law school there. Lynn had the desire of a Wall Street career, but interned for a sports agency in 2015, which put her on the path she is on today. She made history by becoming the first black woman to represent a top-three pick with Quinnen Williams in 2019.

When Jalen Hurts finished his 2019 season at Oklahoma, Lynn made the first contact to get him as a client. Lynn, the Oklahoma graduate liked what she saw in Hurts in his one season in Norman after playing for three seasons at Alabama. The two used Instagram to message back and forth before officially becoming business partners. Hurts eventually was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Jalen Hurts’ spectacular 2022 season quickly made him one of Lynn’s most famous clients. In fact, when he reached the Super Bowl, she became the first female black agent to represent the starting quarterback in a Super Bowl in NFL history. Hurts and the Eagles ultimately lost the game, but the attention that is put on the big game put Lynn in the spotlight.

Who Are Her Other Clients?

With her massive contract for Jalen Hurts, her other clients must be very excited about their future possibilities. Nicole Lynn represents Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, Quinnen Williams of the New York Jets, Chukuemeke Egbule of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Bailey Zappe of the New England Patriots. Two big names that could be first-round picks this year, Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr. and Texas’ Bijan Robinson, are also represented by her. Nicole Lynn works in other sports as well including basketball and softball.

Final Thoughts

Signing the largest contract in the NFL for one of the rising stars in the league will only put Nicole Lynn in more demand. Not only has she reset the quarterback market in terms of new contracts, but she has also done it as one of the only black females in an industry dominated by men. It’s great to see people like Lynn break barriers on the financial side of the league.
