Meet Penny And Cassie. The Games That Count In The NFL Are About To Start, And This Pair Is Bringing A Passion For Sports And A Love Of The Underdogs To Weekly Selections.
Penny and Cassie are ready to take on the point spread for the 2024 season (and embarrass Bob).
The 2024 NFL season is about to begin. This year, we’ve got a special way of approaching the games, and the point spread.
Penny and Cassie are ready to go. These two Golden Retrievers have a passion for sports, a strong drive for competition, and a ruthless desire to show everyone what they can do. They’re both going to make selections of each week’s games against the point spread. I’ll be trying to show them that enthusiasm and cuteness can’t overcome research and thought. (Chances are, I’m in a lot of trouble.)
Here are the things for you to know:
First – We’ll be using the spreads as released in USA Today.
Second – Attempts will be made to have selections for every game each week. Due to the scheduling realities for preparing articles and posting them, if any game does not have an announced point spread by Tuesday morning it may not be included in that week’s predictions.
Third – Penny and Cassie will face a variety of games and challenges throughout the season. These may range from selecting different treats to playing with tennis balls, and likely will change from week to week. Despite any adjustment of the method used, the process will always be consistent for both dogs in all of the week’s predictions. The specifics will be outlined in the corresponding week’s article.
Fourth – There is a plan to create videos of Penny and Cassie making their picks. The target is to have that sorted out by the playoffs, and possibly begin it during the season.
