The Real Reason Why Dak Prescott Wore A Walking Boot
The Dallas Cowboys have had a tumultuous year, particularly due to the disappointing playoff run last season, the decision to retain Mike McCarthy as head coach for some reason, and a quiet free agency period. Adding to Cowboys fans' concerns, there have been recent reports of Dak Prescott being spotted in a walking boot.
A photo of Dak wearing the boot while vacationing in Los Cabos has been circulating on social media.
This has led to much speculation about Dak, since training camp is just a few weeks away. Cowboys fans are extremely worried, and many were wondering whether this was an injury from the playoffs or something more recent. Now, we have an answer as to why Prescott was seen wearing the boot.
It's a Maintenance Issue Dealing with an Injury That Occurred Years Ago.
Prescott was recently asked about it in an interview with Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. His response to the boot is that it was “The same ankle, ame issues,” Prescott told Hill.
Prescott is referring to the severe injury to his right ankle in 2020, sustained during the Week 5 game against the New York Giants. Dak is fortunate to still be playing today, as the injury from 2020 could have ended his career. It ranks among the worst injuries ever seen in NFL history, though not the absolute worst. Two others come to mind: Damar Hamlin's collapse and Alex Smith's leg break.
It's not surprising that Prescott is still dealing with the aftermath of his injury years later. It's quite common for athletes to retire with lifelong injuries. Prescott is diligently preparing his ankle for training camp, yet it's evident that the repercussions of his past injury linger.
Dak is doing what he can to be healthy before training camp begins. The fact that he's wearing a boot is simply a precautionary measure to guarantee his ankle's condition for when he resumes playing. It appears that Prescott will be ready for the start of football training camp regardless.
