While there are many facets to the news of Jim Harbaugh leaving Michigan and going to the Los Angeles Chargers, one thing is clear: quarterback Justin Herbert could be due for a big year.

The Winner Of The Jim Harbaugh Hire
Herbert has been touted as one of the best young quarterbacks in the league since throwing for over 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns in his rookie season of 2020. After losing offensive coordinator Shane Steichen following that season, Herbert had inconsistent play under Joe Lombardi and Kellen Moore.
In comes his savior Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh has historically transformed offenses to fit their skillsets. In San Francisco, Harbaugh was able to make Colin Kaepernick an elite quarterback—playing in a pistol heavy offense that was designed specifically for him.
While the Chargers are in a tough cap situation, they have plenty of talent to utilize. It may not happen right away, but Herbert's full potential is about to be unleashed on the rest of the AFC.
One can argue that Herbert is the best quarterback Harbaugh has coached in the NFL. We saw what he was capable of accomplishing with talented college quarterbacks (Andrew Luck, JJ McCarthy). Jim Harbaugh has won everywhere he's been. It's impossible to expect anything less.
